Is That A Promise, Doctor?
Watched 'The Shakespeare Code', hurrah!
Granted, there have only been two episodes of the current Doctor Who series, but I think that David Tennant is a much better Doctor in it than he was last year. I still have trouble thinking of him and Nine as the same character, but I definitely liked him in the role during this episode much more than I did at any point during the 2006 series.
The whole episode was utterly, utterly, utterly ridiculous. But Doctor Who is meant to be a bit silly, so that was fine.
A few notes with spoilers (highlight to read):

The numbers in the play were hilarious, as was 'Expelliarmus!'. Random Harry Potter references are generally awesome. And, er, was I imagining it or did Shakespeare flirt with the Doctor? Shakespeare/Doctor/Martha, anyone? (Wouldn't it have been sort of awesome if Shakespeare had become a Companion? Also insane, of course.)
Also, I swear the consequences of changing the past are different in every episode. And, er, why didn't the witches say the necessary words themselves?

I didn't get the numbers, but I loved the other references. Squee, "fifty-seven academics just punished the air"!!!
I had a theory that perhaps the Carrionites couldn't speak the words and bring their own kind out - it had to be done by mortal humans, which would explain why they didn't do it themselves.
Been meaning to ask - how do you do the censored text?

I think that's exactly it, yes. Which is wonderful, because I lost a lot of my enthusiasm for Doctor Who last year, and this series looks as if it has the potential to build it up again.

Ta. :)

And Doctor/Martha/Shakespeare *so* needs writing but (as a friend pointed out) this should happen only after Will has been introduced to the notion of dental hygiene. (And I don't think the hygiene/safety should stop dentally, either, if you get my drift! There were some nasty communicable diseases around back then! Yes, I know - way to spoil the mood. And Jack Sparrow's (lack of) hygiene never seems to put anyone off!)

FINE, GO AHEAD AND APPLY TOO MUCH REALISM TO MY LOVELY NEW OT3. Tsk.

Well, Martha started it, honest!

Except...
IreallywishtheDoctorwouldstoppiningafterRose. There, I said it. I know, I know, it's all very sweet, and I'm heartless, but HE'S TWO HUNDRED YEARS OLD. This cannot be the first time this has happened to him. I'm slightly tired of all the 'NO NO NO I WILL NEVER LOVE AGAIN'.

I...still don't like Ten. I'm trying to tone down the rabid hate as much as I can but David Tennant isn't really making it easy for me!
