People Trying To Kill Us Again.
Up to episode 6.14 of Lost, 'The Candidate'!
I was slightly horrified to realise Jack has a kid in the AU. As Original Jack says, he'd be a terrible father! He wouldn't ever act with the intention of harming his kid, but he wouldn't do well.
One interesting thing about the AU storylines is that things can actually improve in them. Both the flashback storylines and the flashforward storylines were almost exclusively about things falling apart, whereas things in the AU can sometimes get better! I'm glad Jack and his son end up on a better footing.
'Dr Linus': I'm half-expecting a Macbeth plot where AU Ben, obsessing over AU Locke saying he should be the headmaster, murders the current headmaster to take his job.
Holy shit, of course Miles knows that Nikki and Paulo got buried alive! It's a throwaway line, but what a throwaway line. It's going to be awful if that gets back to the people who buried them.
Jack's like a plot-essential Until Dawn character who's realised he's plot-essential and can't die before the final confrontation, meaning he's free to take absolutely ludicrous risks, and the result is slightly terrifying.
I've never been much of a Ben fan, but this is a good episode for him! Nice to see him showing some degree of consideration for other people (and also having a crying breakdown; that doesn't hurt).
Slow-motion reunion hugs on the beach! It's just like old times.
'Ab Aeterno': I was very confused by the bold decision to have multiple dialogue-heavy scenes in Spanish with no translation, and then I realised the fact that I had subtitles on for English dialogue meant I somehow wasn't getting the translation subtitles. Bit of a design oversight, Disney+!
'The Package': awww, that was a really lovely scene between Jack and Sun on the beach! I've always liked their friendship. I'm glad they've managed to patch things up.
'Happily Ever After': I am so excited about the AU characters being haunted by memories of the original timeline! I'm losing my mind with excitement; this is great. I can't believe Lost's sixth season is so precisely my sort of thing that it's the exact plot of a fic I'm writing.
'Everybody Loves Hugo': I was going 'wow, Ilana's being really rough with that dynamite, did the writers just forget how dangerous it is?' They... they had not forgotten how dangerous it is.
Extremely funny that AU Desmond, having made it his mission to remind the other AU passengers of the original history, employs strategies ranging from 'give Hurley a romantic pep talk' to 'just fucking hit Locke with your car'.
'The Candidate': I'm finding myself slightly nervous about Jack's survival. 'Prevent the monster from getting on the submarine' seems a) a dangerous task, and b) plot-critical enough to potentially be What Jack Is On The Island For, thus stripping away his plot armour if he achieves it. He physically can't die before he fulfils his purpose on the island, but this is something I could envision him being able to sacrifice himself for. I'm going to be very unhappy if he dies.
Oh, wow, AU Jack asks AU Claire to stay with him when they barely know each other! He does exactly that in the fic I'm working on! Glad to know the writers and I agree on that detail. I'm getting slightly emotional over it actually happening in canon.
Please don't kill my disaster man, Lost. I'm so nervous. He's awful and he's perfect and I love him a lot.
SAYID, NO, THIS IS ALSO A TERRIBLE OUTCOME
what the fuck is going on, I hate all of this
Can't believe I went 'please don't kill Jack' and Lost went 'no problem, we'll just kill Sayid, Sun, Jin and probably Frank instead'! What the fuck! This show was written by an evil genie.
That was a great drenched, desperate, agonised hug between Jack and Kate on the beach. But it wasn't worth the cost!
Only four episodes to go! I'm not ready.

I'll just be here laughing my ass off at how accurate your commentary it. xD
"Slow-motion reunion hugs on the beach! It's just like old times."
I always first think of the slow-motion hugs when Rose and Bernard reunited, but this show has done it a lot, hasn't it. :D
Sorry about all the dying. D:
I'm happy that stuff is aligning so well with the fic you're writing. :D

but this show has done it a lot, hasn't it
And yet somehow never enough! I could watch these characters hugging endlessly.
