I Don't Deserve That Kid.
I've finished playing Marvel's Spider-Man 2!
I cracked up at a character praising New York with 'Whether it's on the stage or in the open air, where else can you see legends and soon-to-be legends performing every day?' (pause) 'London? That's really far away.'
Aww, I like it when Peter is hanging out with a friend who knows he's Spider-Man, so he gets to use his powers without the mask on.
I really like that we're getting to see some supervillains trying to reform themselves. I find myself very invested in Tombstone and Mysterio!
I liked 'Good Men' as a title for the mission in which you find trophies Kraven has kept from the supervillains he's hunted; I thought that was a really interesting choice! I was less sure about the use of the phrase in the mission itself, though. MJ tries to convince Kraven to leave Connors alone because 'he's a good man'. But surely the point of this story in which the villain targets supervillains is that, regardless of how 'good' or 'bad' your target might be, it is bad to hunt humans for sport.
Peter, have you considered that you might be able to transfer the symbiote back to Harry if you guys kiss? I'm not saying it would definitely work; I'm just saying it seems worth trying.
I'm very torn right now. I want to put Peter back in his red and blue suit! But, for story reasons, it makes sense for him to be in the black suit I DON'T LIKE.
We helped a cat to get the Spider-Man toy it wanted, and I think that's beautiful.
I love how excited Peter is to get his tuxedo disguise. 'I'm a spy! A spider-spy.'
His reaction to everything the symbiote does is 'wow, this is so rad, maybe I could incorporate something similar into my own technology', like the nerd he is, and it's delightful. I'm sure things will go horribly wrong before long. But right now it's delightful.
Detail I enjoyed: I landed on the street, and a passer-by pulled out a phone and took a photo of me.
I'm hugely enjoying this game, but it does bother me a little that the two sidequests I've encountered involving elderly people have been 'elderly man reminisces about his dead wife and says he can feel himself fading' and 'elderly man reminisces about his dead wife and then dies'. Maybe you could also include an older person, I don't know, doing something fun? (Or interesting, at least; I would accept 'becoming a supervillain'.) There's more to later life than 'reminisce and die', and, given that this game is clearly making an effort to depict diversity, it feels a little glaring that it seems not to recognise that. Tell me a story about being old that's not just 'isn't this sad?' (To be fair to Spider-Man 2, this is a challenge most stories fail.)
Fido the monstrous metal guide dog is perfect. I love him, and I love how fond of him Peter is.
Venom is an interesting issue to tackle, but the problem with introducing Venom is that it changes Peter's personality, and I love Peter's personality! Playing this game has really made me realise how fond I am of Peter Parker, both in general and in this specific incarnation.
I love Miles and Li getting the chance to talk and understand each other better inside Peter's mind! I'm delighted by what this game has done with Li in general. If you'd asked me what I wanted from this game, 'teaming up with Martin Li' would never have made the list, but it turns out I love it.
This game also really humanises Norman Osborn in a way I wasn't expecting. It's interesting!
I went 'aww' aloud when Peter was freaking out over the possibility of having to kill Harry and Miles reassured him. I really like their friendship!
The scene where Miles asks Hailey out is also very cute. Bless these kids.
I regret to inform you that, when Peter was on the ground and Venom's tentacles were crawling over him, my main thought was 'I can't wait to read the fanfiction this scene inspires.'
Oh, my God, Peter's 'I love you' to Harry absolutely devastated me. Holy shit. It's so fitting for the scene, but I wasn't expecting it at all; I physically felt it in my heart. Rarely has a line hit me harder.
God. He tries so hard not to kill. And, when he's finally forced to, it's under the worst possible circumstances.
Love Peter, Miles and MJ all touching each other for comfort as Harry is taken away. That entire final mission was intense!
I love these games so much! Such good characters; such good relationships!
If you enjoy action games and have any fondness for Spider-Man, I genuinely cannot recommend Insomniac's Spider-Man games enough. Possibly my all-time favourite interpretation of Peter Parker, and Peter Parker is a character I'm fond of in just about every incarnation.
I was really impressed when I started up the first game and saw the opening cutscene; you can tell it was made by people who really care about the character. Of course Peter Parker would wear Spider-Man underpants.

Yep. I think Connors is a good man when he's not being a bad lizard, but either way, he shouldn't be hunted for sport.
Peter, in the comics you once kissed J. Jonah Jameson just because you thought it was funny, surely you can kiss Harry now!
Aw!
The Vulture! In the comics he's old, and he's a supervillain and also a really sweet grandfather who taught his granddaughter how to fly! (His granddaughter is now dating Miles, which is...complicated, but the two of them together are cute, and she admits that her grandfather, while very sweet to her, is something of a mixed bag in terms of how he treats other people.)

I read this line and was immediately compelled to look this moment up. Beautiful. You're so weird, Peter.
Oh, that's cool about the Vulture! He has a minor role in the first game, but I never really registered his age through his costume. Sadly, we learn in this game that Kraven has killed him, but at least that's an interesting way to go out.

The symbiote letting Harry, Peter, and especially MJ let out their greivances in highly destructive, unproductive ways is my catnip. I live for that. I also live for the how, despite seeing each other at their worst, they come to support one another and forgive each other. Unnfff

I love this. What a great trio. ♥

If you don't mind getting spoiled for the first game (and the shorter Miles Morales game that comes in between the two), you should be able to jump into Spider-Man 2; its main storyline is self-contained, and it asks at the beginning of the game if you'd like a quick recap of the plot up to this point. I hope you enjoy it, if you do check it out! I had a blast with it.

Hahaha! Love that, esp since there are quite a few songs etc about New York that always make me think of London.

How could you think anything else!
My flatmate has the first game I think. Hmm...

Ooh, I hope you enjoy the game, if you check it out! It's one of my all-time favourites.
