But No Theme Song Will Ever Match Up To The First.

I just caught an episode of Pokémon: Johto League Champions and quite literally wept for love. It was about a Houndoom that found Togepi when it was lost, and the two of them became Best Friends For Ever, and it was the corniest thing ever (complete with a Houndoom-and-Togepi montage set to a song about friendship!) and I adored it anyway. Oh, Pokémon, you are so utterly ridiculous and full of over-the-top sentimentality and yet I have never stopped loving you. And yes, I was more affected by the scene where the two of them had to part than I care to admit. SHUT UP, SHUT UP. IT WAS TOUCHING, ALL RIGHT?

I sort of lost track of Pokémon after the Orange Islands episodes. It's good to know that the later episodes still have the ability to fill me with glee and adoration. (Hurrah, there's another episode on! Oh, James, I love you and your hopeless gullibility and your obsession with bottle caps.)

BUT NOW THERE IS AN ADVERT FOR BATTLE FRONTIER AND ASH'S VOICE IS WRONG. I DO NOT APPROVE OF THIS AT ALL.

(On an unrelated note, does anyone know what's happened to [livejournal.com profile] melata_fic?)

Oh, I used to love Pokemon!

You know Pokemon: The Movie? I cried.

Tell anyone and I'LL BREAK YOU.

Heh, it's ok - I was nine and had the Pokemon handbook. And a poster. XD

YOU WIN. XD

Though I did have one of those electronic Pokeball things. That was cool...

I badly wanted the Pokemon Gameboy games...YOU ARE MAKING ME WANT THEM AGAIN.

But No Theme Song Will Ever Match Up To The First. << THIS IS THE TRUTH.

I haven't seen Pokémon for years, honestly, and I think I really do miss it. Why on earth was it so good? What was it about it? I don't think I can even remember, I just know that it was brilliant. I think I stopped somewhere after the Orange Islands as well, and it may have been some kind of kneejerk not-liking-that-new-girl-what-was-her-name-err-she-had-a-stupid-thing-on-her-hair-oh-May-that-was-it reaction, but I'm sort of regretting that now. (What channel did you find it on, omg, do I have it?!)

I'm not sure how many Pokémon Gameboy games I actually have, because I think I've lost track of those as well, but I've never completed one, which I think has left a hole in my heart to this day. I'm so, so tempted to go back and start one again and actually try to finish it, except a) I don't know which one to choose and b) I am fully aware that it would take over my life.

I may possibly have Toonami, because I think we do have an array of cartoon channels somewhere in the 700s that I never look through (why do the channels go up to the 700s when there aren't 700 channels? Why do they leave so many numbers out? I don't understand).

But, yes, I know, it really is shocking, and I've always been quite disappointed with myself. The closest I ever came was on... Gold, I think, but I suffered a terrible tragedy when I briefly, and foolishly, traded my Butterfree (which was my "main" Pokémon--you know, there was always one that was always the highest level, and the strongest, and usually it was your starter Pokémon, but for some reason I decided to make it my Butterfree instead) with my friend, and then her brother saved over her game, and it was lost forever. I have no idea why I traded it in the first place. Anyway, I was so scarred by the incident that I was never really able to go back to Gold, sigh.

Oh, Pokémon! I remember my brother and I used to get up at 5 in the morning and watch it before school (and, erm, then watch the same episode again after school on a station with better reception). We didn't have money for most of the neat Poké-stuff we wanted, so most of what we had was stuff our friends had doubles of or didn't want. (It was upsetting at the time, but looking back it was probably a good thing our budgets were otherwise occupied with Beast Wars.)

We lost it somewhere during Orange Islands. I think it was because they changed the show time. We still went and saw the movies (and managed to corrupt some of our younger cousins in the process, ha!), and I think the games are still up with my brother's Gameboy, but I'm not actually sure.

So, I check out your userinfo and see this:

If I start writing fanfiction snippets for you on a whim, encouraging me may result in my never stopping sending you snippets ever.

I stroke my chin in an evil fashion, and decide you are my new favourite person ever, and I will now be sitting on your last nerve from here until eternity. Or until someone kicks me and makes me do Actual Work.

Er, IOW, consider yourself friended.

[identity profile] apiphile.livejournal.com 2007-04-30 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
You may well regret the occasional foot-long rambling and ranting about writing but that is after all why we have scroll wheels on our computer mice. You're added to it anyway.

Hah, I'm still figuring out how to respond to your feedback without flailing like a startled octopus. So I haven't ignored it! I'm just, er, digesting. In a dignified fashion. And looking smug, possibly, because my feedback usually consists of people typing "lol".

Man/dog. Good grief. See, I was thinking more just using you to up the pitifully small levels of Britcom fic on the internet, since sometimes it feels like I'm the only person not on the Yuletide Archive who's actually writing any ...

Prepare for Trouble!

Pokémon is one of those things where I may have slightly ignored the main characters in favour of minor characters that I liked better. Oh come on, Team Rocket were so much more fun!

Oh god, I'm going to give in to temptation and look for episodes on YouTube now aren't I?

And I'm still replaying Pokemon Red. When I get a Magikarp I'm naming it Jeremy.

Also is it just me or does Paras (http://uk.guides.ign.com/guides/16708/page_114.html) look like a cutesy, wingless rendition of a Mi-go (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mi-go)?
