rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (brotherly concern)

Fire, Possibly In Your Hair.

Firstly: I try so hard to resist these, but I knew I'd fail one day. Here I am at an anonymity meme. Tell me whatever you'd like.

In other numbers: WHY DO I FIND THE WINCHESTER BROTHERS SO VERY ATTRACTIVE WHEN THEY'RE COVERED IN BLOOD? THIS IS NOT RIGHT. They're also attractive when they're not covered in blood, of course, but Sam and Dean with great big slashes across their faces are hot in a way that cannot possibly be sane. Also, 'Shadow' was so full of beautiful family love that I almost wept. (As it is apparently Incest Week in Riona's Livejournal I can see where you might get confused, but by 'beautiful family love' I do not, in fact, mean incest.) And take note, Torchwood: 'The Benders' is 'Countrycide' improved times a billion.

My brother wandered in when I was watching 'Hell House', stayed for the rest of it and asked whether we could see another episode when it was over. This makes me so happy you would not believe it. Yay, conversions!

Yesterday, I watched the first six episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist for the first time in a long time (I will never understand why the opening and ending themes are so upbeat), and I was struck by how similar the Elrics and the Winchesters are. Well, all right, this is mainly based on both pairs of brothers having dead mothers and father issues. And I suppose you could sort of say that the Elrics travel around and fight supernatural entities. Er. This wasn't a very good attempt at a point, really, was it?

(I also rewatched the musical episode of Buffy, and now I sort of want the Winchesters to investigate Spike. Sadly, I can never write this and probably wouldn't understand the fic if someone else did, because I've seen almost no Buffy. BUT STILL.)

I love watching people fall madly in love with the Winchesters. It's awesome. I love this show SO SO MUCH.

I have saved 'Mystery Spot' for us to watch! Whee!

And okay seriously, I am going to make you watch Firefly again, because, SIMON AND RIVER'S SIBLING LOVE.

Dude, if being attracted to Winchesters-en-blood is wrong, then I don't wanna be right.

I was okay with the concept of sadomasochism and bloodplay before I was okay with the concept of sex. Which, yeah, can't be normal, but there it is.

So... no judgments here?

"Spike! You're covered in sexy wounds!" - from Buffy. Joss Whedon understands us at least :D

I did not enjoy 'Counrtycide' nearly as much as I could have if I hadn't seen 'The Benders' beforehand, haha.

Think about the last few episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist, and all the sacrifices the Elrics make for each other. They make sacrifices for each other throughout the series, actually. That's what most reminds me of the Winchesters.

I read your anonymous thing! You have strange friends.

Seriously, it's interesting, if a bit odd in patches. I would totally lack the nerve to do something like that. I get too worked up checking right after I posted a fic to see if anyone's commented (and then not looking after a couple days, and finding out a week later that I've had really brilliant comments sitting around for the past four days.)

[identity profile] elfwhistletree.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
The checking thing I understand completely - the not getting comments emailed to you I don't get - it's bad enough that LJ is eating some of the comment emails so I get all twitchy and clicky ;-)

They get emailed to me. But 1) I'm lazy about checking my emails, and 2) fic that's not on my journal doesn't get the comments emailed to me.

Damn... I'm getting the feeling I ought to take another crack at watching Supernatural... I know I saw the first series ages ago, but I could never get into the second one... (are Wincest shippers called Wincesters?).

Full Metal Alchemist is something else I should watch more of, er four episodes I think, and I only know it was four of them because the anime society showed blocks of four episodes...

Oh man, it's lucky when an anime has entirely appropriate theme music, I remember watching Noir, which while the Opening and Closing where fine... the commercial break music? Completely spoiled the mood of every dramatic mid episode cliffhanger moment with its jingly upbeatness. And of course Eva's sudden eruption of Synth brass...

(Oh man... I barely remember either at the minute, but I want to see this so bad now...)

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering about that. It looked like they were making a joke reply to one of the other lj-people I know (who's big on Marxist critiques and irn bru, but spells better than that), except they were responding to you.

I'd love to see Jeremy/Bugatti Veyron analyzed from a Marxist perspective. Particularly if they contrasted Jeremy's cycle of falling for, and being disappointed by, high-end luxury goods with Richard/Oliver.

And you don't know that was me! Multiple people got drawn in by your scary ability to get people to write for fandoms they've never read. It could have been any of us.

Besides Supernatural has already been crossed (brilliantly!) with Top Gear, so I don't need to.

Fullmetal Alchemist is very good, if you like things that will cheerfully rip out your heart and stamp on it.

Right. I'm sold.

That seems to be a theme with Square-Enix... but I can live with that.

I KNOW

I recently played the DS game. IT IS AMAZING. I just went "ffffffff, FMA. OMG AL! KJFHKFJDHGKJF."

[identity profile] eva-kasumi.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
You forgot that the Elrics are also GAY WITH EACH OTHER. oh wow how did you forget that? =D

[identity profile] eva-kasumi.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It does indeed. As I recall it, we concurred that the problem is that Ed and Al are so devoted to each other that they cannot possibly ever be in a relationship with anyone else. Which meant that I slashed them and you condemned them to a lifetime of chastity. XD OH WELL.
