rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (he's already had sex with you)

It's Your Grief Counsellors; We've Come To Hug.

I JUST HAD A GIRL FROM MY COURSE OVER AND WE COOKED DINNER AND JUST-ONE-MORE-EPISODED OUR WAY THROUGH THE FIRST DISC OF SUPERNATURAL.

This totally warrants allcaps. I am insanely awkward around people in real life (and also cannot cook), so this feels like a gigantic social achievement. (She had never seen Supernatural before, and now she desperately wants to watch more! VICTORY. Also, at one point she observed that Dean Winchester sort of looked like Richard Hammond. It is obviously the eyebrows.)

Sam/Jess seems to become a little cuter every time I watch the Pilot, which is something I didn't really anticipate but certainly have no objection to. And I find it incredibly difficult to watch the Winchesters without exclaiming 'I LOVE THEM SO MUCH' about twice an episode, which is something I should probably try to keep under control when watching in company. (It distresses me more than it should when horrible things happen to them, and horrible things happen to them all the time.)

Also, I saw 'Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things' yesterday, and now my mind is pestering me with snippets of appalling necrophilia fanfiction. STOP IT, MIND. If you wanted to show me that there are worse things than writing Sam/Dean, you have succeeded! Please return to the relative normality of the incest.

FREE HUGS????

you even predicted yourself that you would stray into the realm of SPN necrophilia! O RIONA.

So, if we meet in real life one day, are you likely to try to hug me? I'm weird about hugging. Generally I only like hugs from people I know well, children, or anyone I'm reasonably friendly with while drunk.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I have crutches. They're long and shiny and metallic, and good at fending people off. Would they help stop the hug attack?

I mean holding them up as a sort of barricade, obviously. Not thwacking you with them or anything. I'm not that averse to being hugged.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
That can be solved with alcohol!

Seriously, odds are we're never going to meet in person. But if we do, and I don't go for the hugs, it's not because of you. I'm generally hug-wary.

And oh my god, Supernatural! Dean and the little boy and, oh my god! And yes, Dean, you DO have to hug! If you're going to start talking about the childhood trauma of watching your mother DIE, in front of your brother, and you never said anything about it before, you HAVE to hug! Physics demands it!

And Sam with less hair is less annoying, and actually kind of sweet when he's not trying to be intense and dramatic, and I love this show now.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
And then there was the one where Sam was having nightmares and not sleeping, and was all, "I'm fine!" and Dean was all, "NO YOU ARE NOT FINE, LET'S TALK ABOUT THIS!", which hit my intense thing for characters that want to look after everyone else, but won't let themselves be looked after, and also made me want to hug Sam a lot. I have a weakness for, "I should be able to save everyone," guilt.

And then the shapeshifter! AAAAAH! LOVE AND SIBLING RIVALRY AND FEELING UNDERAPPRECIATED BUT LOOKING AFTER YOUR BROTHER ANYWAYS BECAUSE YOU LOVE THEM AND THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!

I'll lend you the hockey stick if you need it ;-)

[identity profile] elfwhistletree.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
OK - you probably don't ♥

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! I did a Jeet Kune Do class, and a lot of what we learned was stick fighting. Which lead to many people in the class going, "Well, this is all very well and good, but why would I be walking around with a big, long stick?"

Not me.

[identity profile] elfwhistletree.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Every time we go for a walk in the country, Captain Enthusiastic ( aged 8 ) insisted on finding the largest stick he can and bringing it along - I think he must have been a Labrador in a previous life.

I think he might enjoy Jeet Kune Do rather too much ;-)

He would. It's lots of fun. There's stick fighting, and knife fighting (using fake non-sharp knives made out of wood, so we don't all die), and all kinds of cool stuff. Plus, the instructor I had was big on the whole, "Do the stuff that works for you, and skip the stuff that doesn't," philosophy, in a way that didn't make it feel like he was aiming it specifically at me.

Which is great, because I am never going to get some of the Savate kicks, but am good at punching and great at fake-knife fighting.

(using fake non-sharp knives made out of wood, so we don't all die)

That's important for Rule 7. *nods*

Rum, on the other hand, might be helpful.

What sort of alcohol tolerance do Time Lords have?

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
A whole bottle gives me a hangover unless I drink slowly and have plenty of water. Aside from that, I have considerable tolerance.

And I like rum!

[identity profile] elfwhistletree.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
A whole bottle of rum is quite impressive - you can have my ration, Cap'n- it only makes me sneezy and sleepy.

We have Stroh, over-proof Austrian rum - that is good for setting fire to things and after some of that Riona would get her hug ♥

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Obviously, we need to meet up first, have a few (I get huggy way before I reach the hangover point), then go greet Riona so she can have the hug! Problem solved!

I've had over-proof rum. It was Jamaican. And good. About the same strength as absinthe, actually.

[identity profile] elfwhistletree.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Good plan ♥
