I Think You'll Find This One Even Softer.

So I suddenly and unexpectedly fell in crazy love with Derren Brown at around 3.00-4.30 in this clip. It really hit me at 4.16-4.24. Apparently my type is 'oxygen-deprived lunatics'. Good to know! (Seriously, the weak 'Do you feel anything?' The way he looks up at her? I - I don't know what's wrong with me. He's like a zombie after he takes the bag off his head. I'm not attracted to zombies. Am I attracted to zombies? I really, really hope that I am not attracted to zombies. And he has a plastic bag over his face and he's breathing slowly into it and it is incredibly unsettling to watch and yet it is also somehow - it's - stop bringing out these massively disturbing fetishes in me, Mr Brown.)

I've watched 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' and 'An Evening of Wonders' in the past couple of days, and there really is something disturbingly attractive and attractively disturbing about Derren Brown. He just hovers on the brink of being evil, whilst still being polite and charismatic. A bit like the Master without the genocide.

ANYWAY, NOW THAT I HAVE ALARMED YOU AND MYSELF, SOMETHING LESS DISTURBING.

I CANNOT THINK OF ANYTHING LESS DISTURBING. Which is odd, because quite a lot is less disturbing than 'I am weirdly attracted to a rather creepy man who could probably get me to give up my purse just by asking for it nicely' (that link leads to a video on a site called 'StupidVideos', as the YouTube video does not appear to be available in the UK; if you live elsewhere and would prefer YouTube, try this link. You know, Derren Brown probably actually IS the Master. He's working on something big while getting us used to him as a "harmless" practitioner of mind-control powers. AVOID.

I hate Derren Brown with my entire soul, but also he is charming and unsettling and amazing at what he does and, you know, not unattractive. I watched An Evening of Wonders the other night, and it was freaking brilliant. But I still hate him.

My housemates and I were wondering what it's like to be his poor boyfriend. DERREN KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE THINKING, MYSTERY BOYFRIEND. ALL THE TIME.

What about if you write RPF in which he outsmarts the Winchesters? Would that be acceptable?

Intended to elaborate, but apparently, no, I really can't be any more useful than that. But I'm reading his book at the moment and rjgnenglrg he is just so funny and clever and charming and fascinating, although possibly he has just brainwashed me into thinking he is all these things.

Maybe he's the Trickster.

I can second a recommendation of the book - it's very interesting, and showed me a good mnemonic for remembering phone numbers.

SHUT UP, DERREN BROWN IS HOT. I found the whole of Something WIcked insanely attractive. That bit especially. I think it's somehow a combination of the creepy knowingness and at the same time, the vulnerability. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THE SANITY IN MY BRAIN SOMETIMES. The little intake of breath he does after he gets up from the chair kind of smushes me. As in fact does the whole part where you can hear him breathing. And the fact that his shirt-sleeves are rolled up, which is a massive kink of mine. Also, thank you for directing me to that clip, because it is one of my favourite things ever, which probably says some deeply wrong things about me.

It's the charisma/slightly invasive thing that does it, I think.

Let's face it, Derren Brown brings out the disturbing part of everyone's mind. LO, SUDDENLY YOU WILL FIND CREEPY TO BE HOT (although, actually, this describes quite a large majority of the people I am attracted to. I FEAR FOR MYSELF WHAT)

OH AND ALSO THAT BIT WHERE HE COUNTS THE BUTTONS AFTER THE WOMAN SLAPS HIM A FEW TIMES.
