Apparently, someone has now thrown a shoe at the Chinese Prime Minister. My first reaction was 'oh, that's original'; my second was an overwhelming urge to buy fluffy slippers with tiger faces or something similar and hurl them at politicians. Not necessarily politicians I disagree with; just politicians. Perhaps it could even be a slipper-throwing of support. I want everyone to do this. I want throwing cute slippers to become a sort of political Rickrolling. (I am not actually encouraging you to do this, however, because I would hate to hear that you had been arrested for throwing slippers with rabbit ears at a head of state.)

SEE, I CAN STILL TALK ABOUT THINGS THAT AREN'T DERREN BROWN.

Speaking of things that are Derren Brown, however: ahahaha, the card-flip in the fifth episode of Trick or Treat. He is such a bad person! There'd just been two episodes of Derren being lovely, so I suppose it makes sense that he was going to be really, really evil in this one. He is a living reversible Trick-or-Treat card.

Also, I love that the poor guy called the police. You'd think that would happen more often in these things. I think my favourite parts of these episodes are the parts where Derren creepily introduces himself. (You may actually be able to watch this if you are not in the UK; as I am in the UK and therefore not allowed to watch it (grr, YouTube), I can't check whether it's the correct clip, but it seems to be. Can anyone confirm?)

Well, the only potentially burglar-alarm-setting-off stunt I can think of right now is when he crept into Richard's house in the middle of the night. Apparently, they persuaded his girlfriend to give them a key; I assume they also asked her whether there was an alarm, or possibly to keep it turned off.

Although I would totally not be surprised to discover that Derren Brown is used to sneaking into houses without setting off alarms.

Have you seen The Devil's Picture Book? I've only watched the first part so far, but it's a very old (he has LOTS of hair) video of Derren explaining various card tricks he used to use. All the time he's like 'I don't use this anymore' and the card interviewer is all like 'why not?' and Derren searches for a proper answer and ums and ahs until eventually saying something basically like 'well, I prefer messing with people's minds'. HE IS EVIL.

Hey, you know who I've never manip'ed with a Pokemon? Bruce Campbell. And that's just not right.

He gets a Ghastly because a) Ghastly's are scary and Bruce has played in loads of horror movies and b) I think there was one episode where there was a Ghastly with a ridiculous sense of humour, which suits Bruce.

I hadn't actually mentioned it here, but Derren Brown's work being The Real Hustle with added creepy had totally occurred to me.

Dean finds a pikachu and calls it Sam because he misses his brother who is not around for unknown reason, and also because it has big brown eyes and keeps bitchfacing him when he plays Metallica too loud. And then Sam is rescued and Dean calls Pikachu!Sam in front of him and Sam is all "uh why is pikachu called Sam?" and Dean replied, "Because he's overly emotional and he sheds on my car seat, just like you!" and then Pikachu electrocutes him buyt it is a shock of LOVE, so everything is ok, and then they drive off into the sunset playing SMOKE ON THE WATER.

...NO, brain, don't do this to me.
And Dean didn't know what a pokemon was, and Sam is all, "where were you in the year 1999 through 2003?" and Dean is all, "Hunting werewolves, bitch! What the hell were you doing?"
