rionaleonhart: final fantasy versus xiii: a young woman at night, her back to you, the moon high above. (nor women neither)

If You Haven't Watched 'Being Human', The End Of This Entry Applies To You.

I forgot to mention in my last entry that I would like to see Merlin meet the supernatural trio of Being Human! They can all be misfits together. Mitchell and/or George might resent him a little at first, because amazing magical abilities are not really the worst possible thing with which to be cursed, but eventually they would all come to love each other.

Also, I watched the pilot episode yesterday. Not-really-spoilery notes:

- I like Pilot!Mitchell and Annie quite a lot, but I think I prefer the Mitchell and Annie from the actual series. Perhaps because the ones from the actual series were the first ones I met; perhaps because I know not to get too attached to the actors in the pilot. (Actually, I like the pilot actors an enormous amount. It is a very good thing that I also enormously love the actors from the actual series.)

- It took a second watching for me to notice that there is an entire scene in which Mitchell and George are hanging out and chatting whilst George is wearing exactly no clothes. My powers of observation are fearsome.

- THAT SCENE WITH THE ESTATE AGENT. AND THEN THE THRESHOLD. OH, MITCHELL. YOU ARE MAGNIFICENT.

- I laughed so hard at 'It's like my body is made out of diamonds'. Someone's been reading Twilight.

- MITCHELL AND GEORGE AND ANNIE SIT AROUND AND DISCUSS WHICH HOGWARTS HOUSES THEY WOULD BE IN.

I WANT TO BE THEIR FRIEND.

Do they also discuss what Pokémon they would have? Well, I'm certainly going to.

The obvious thing to say would be that Annie has a Ghost-type, Mitchell has a Dark-type and George has something wolfish. Actually, George would probably go for the most unwolflike Pokémon he could find, given that he is not terribly happy about his condition. Something like a Pichu. Mitchell and Annie would mock him a lot for it.

George keeps catching sight of what looks like a Mightyena out of the corner of his eye. It is slowly driving him mad.

OH, WAIT: perhaps Mitchell has a Mightyena. George would throw a fit.

Actually, I think the Pokémon for Mitchell might be a Houndoom. Which, whilst not as wolflike as Mightyena, is probably still wolflike enough to make George terribly uncomfortable. Sorry, George; you're probably not going to like Mitchell's Pokémon, whatever I eventually decide to give him.

Annie is difficult, though, because no Ghost Pokémon really seems to fit her. Shuppet, whilst terribly cute in appearance, feeds on feelings of envy and malice and vengefulness, which doesn't strike me as very Annie-ish. (I like to think that the house has Shuppet infestations when one of the trio is in a particularly dark mood, however.)

Perhaps Annie can't catch Pokémon! In the tower in Lavender Town, after all, the Pokémon on the player's team are terrified of the ghosts. Perhaps they all run away from her. She is quite upset by this. Mitchell takes it upon himself to train an Eevee not to be afraid of her, and ropes George into it as well. Bless them.

Actually, as the pilot is not available on the Being Human DVD, I can link you to it with no guilt whatsoever! You can watch it here on YouTube. If you have not yet seen any Being Human, give it a try! (I should mention that Mitchell and Annie were recast for the actual series, so try not to fall too in love with the actors in the pilot. Feel free to fall in love with the characters, though!)

Seriously: watch it. It is right there. It is a drama-with-humour about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost who share a house. I'm sure some of you will be tempted.

Wait wait wait what? HOW IS THIS FACT NOT ADVERTISED EVERYWHERE?

I have an exam to go to but! I shall watch it at some point soon.

Thank you! THE EXAM IS GOING TO BE CRAZYPANTS. Speaking of which, I should probably go put on pants.

A Being Human and Pokémon crossover would be absolutely amazing! The three of them setting off on a Pokémon adventure would just be adorable, wouldn't it? And for some reason, I keep picturing George with a Squirtle. It'd always just hop onto his shoulder and start water-gunning him at the worst kind of times.
AND MAYBE ANNIE ACTUALLY IS A POKÉMON.

[identity profile] thrennion.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
They would be a wonderful team! And he wouldn't want it to evolve, either.

YES. YES, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS! IT ALL STARTS OFF WHEN SHE STARTS LEVITATING.

[identity profile] bubbles-san.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you considered giving Annie a Misdreavus? Misdreavus are amazing. And no emotion feeding whatsoever.

But I like the Eevee idea better.

Hi! I watched all seven episodes (including the pilot, there wasn't some hidden seventh episode or something on YouTube that I watched) yesterday! I am massively in love with this show! George and Mitchell are so adorable and gay for each other!

I rather think that George would try, and possibly succeed, in catching the most un-wolf-like Pokemon possible (like a Wynaut) but then a wolf-like Pokemon, like Mightyena (or even Poochyena) would attach itself to him because it smells that he's a kindred spirit. He would hate it.

'It's like my body is made out of diamonds'
Wait, what scene was this? I can't believe I missed it! I was waiting for the mocking Twilight reference and everything!

[identity profile] bubbles-san.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes, I did catch that. I just didn't connect it as a Twilight reference because I was waiting for Mitchell to make it.

Oh, he would, wouldn't he? Mitchell would catch it and then force it to follow George around everywhere, just to annoy him. He'd claim it was so he knew he was safe, but we'd all know the truth.

I found a playlist of it on YouTube and sat down and watched it. I made it to the fourth episode before my dad came home and then I had to go do stuff between episodes. I finally finished at around ten thirty. Because I have no self control, and there's no way I was going to wait around to watch episodes that are right there at my fingertips.

Perhaps while Mitchell is training the Eevee not to be afraid of her, she is off catching a Misdreavus? And then they give it to her right after she's caught it, and George is all "See? I told you we didn't have to go to all this trouble." But then Annie and Eevee and Misdreavus are so happy together that he can't get annoyed.

Series!Annie is so adorable, that I quickly got over the Annie-change, but pilot!Mitchell! YES PLZ.

I think Ghost Pokemon would be attracted to Annie and insist on being around her, while Annie is trying to shake them off, because she thinks they're a bit creepy.

George should definitely have an utterly adorable Pokemon.

[identity profile] dracothelizard.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I do think that in time Annie will discover that Ghost Pokemon can also be very nice when they want to be. And they can have a sense of humour, as was evidenced in The Tower of Terror (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/EP023), so I'm sure it'll be fine in the end.

This entry is made of joy. Hee. :D

[identity profile] layered.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Being Human. I totally loved pilot!Mitchell more though. D:

[identity profile] emmarrrrr.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I REFUSE TO WATCH THE SERIES. Because I don't like the look of the woman they cast as Annie.

All I can ever remember from the pilot is "Oooh, we can grow vegetables." Honestly, that's it.

[identity profile] emmarrrrr.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I DON'T KNOW. i just don't like her as much as pilot!annie.

...although, it's not as bad as the loss of pilot!mitchell. D: I LOVED HIM SO MUCH.

OH, ALSO; RE THE POKEMON; ANNIE WOULD HAVE A DRIFLOON, OBVIOUSLY.

[identity profile] honeymull.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaaand now I have three thousand and ninety FOUR shows queued up in my Motherfucker You Better Watch This Shit list.

I saw the pilot a while ago and loved it to pieces, but failed to DL any more episodes, and then somewhat lost interest in trying to find DLs when I heard they replaced the pilot actors...But I should really probably give it another try. YOU ARE PERSUASIVE.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
George keeps catching sight of what looks like a Mightyena out of the corner of his eye. It is slowly driving him mad.

This is why, even when I'm not watching whatever you're into (and I have literally a billion unfinished fanfic, so you do not want to get me into more prospective fandoms), your entries make me smile. You can drive people insane with Pokemoon! You rock!

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2009-05-08 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd get sucked in. I know it. I write fanfic for everything inside my head. If they ever develop the Fanfic Extractor, so I can suck the ideas out of my head and onto the page directly, without the writing process, I shall drown the internet in fanfic within a week.

And yes. It was a deliberate pun, and not a typo at all. Obviously.

Annnd BAM, I've watched the pilot and started on the first episode. I too miss pilot!Mitchell, with his incredibly skinny lankiness. I'm withholding judgment on series!Annie. I'm really glad they didn't change George, though- I saw that actor recently in the Masterpiece Theater version of Little Dorrit. He played the poor schlub who desperately loves the main girl but gets dumped for the main guy. Actually, the girl from the Being Human pilot who George almost eats was the main girl from Little Dorrit.. aww, now I hope she decides to make a go of it with George- I can pretend like his character from Little Dorrit gets his happy ending.

[identity profile] vzg.livejournal.com 2009-05-08 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
This is almost entirely unrelated to this post, except like the first sentence, and I haven't had a chance to watch Being Human yet (though I will, I promise!) but—

I thought you might be interested in reading this (http://10leaguesbeyond.livejournal.com/10847.html).

I didn't really get into what little of Being Human I saw, BUT there is a girl in my seminar groups who finds Derren Brown strange alluring due to his charisma and goatee. So I'm just wondering if you've moved down to Cornwall and have taken to masquerading as a short goth called Jennifer lately?

IF SHE IS NOT SECRETLY YOU, I MAY HAVE TO START QUESTIONING YOUR FLIST.
