The Red Eyes Represent His Eeeeevil.

Episode twenty-two, and I do enjoy the fact that Light is now determinedly working towards uncovering the method Higuchi uses to kill, not realising that were he to succeed he would completely scupper his own plans.

Episode twenty-four: ...or not!

And, now that Light-as-Kira is back, I am, of course, missing the innocent Light. It was sort of nice to be hoping for the success of someone who, you know, wasn't evil. When Light is Kira, I keep hoping that he won't get caught and then feeling like a terrible person. Can I never be satisfied with the Light I have? Alas!

Also, the innocent Light is sort of adorable.

(There is something delightful about Light-as-Kira's scheming, however. Episode twenty-five, manipulating Rem into a situation in which she may be forced to kill L and die in the process? Beautiful. He is so awful, but you have to admire his style.

Poor Rem. I think I love her a bit.)

It is obviously not going to happen, on account of the world of Death Note (presumably) containing no TARDISes, but I sort of want to see what would happen were Light-as-Kira and Light-the-amnesiac-innocent to meet. Innocent Light would be horrified by himself. Light-as-Kira would desperately try to persuade him that this is right, that he's making the world better. And, er, he would probably succeed eventually, because the innocent Light is still Light, after all.

Then they would have narcissistic sex.

Why do I actually want to read this? I want to read this immensely. I think it's because Light has to be the most perfect character for narcissistic self-sex ever created. LIGHT/HIMSELF: THE TRUE DEATH NOTE OTP. (I would also rather like to see Light Yagami/Zac Efron, but of course that's essentially the same thing.)

After that footrub scene, all right, I think I can probably 'ship L/Light in a one-sided way.

AND OF COURSE I HAD TO ACQUIRE A NEW 'SHIP JUST BEFORE ONE OF THE CHARACTERS WAS KILLED.

What is going to happen now? How can Death Note work without Light and L and their psychological battling? I AM QUITE DISTRESSED BY THIS. Although I shall be prepared to forgive Death Note if the remaining episodes are all about Light meeting his Death Noteless self and the epic romance that ensues.

(I am still sort of hoping that L was just faking his death and Rem turned into sand... for... reasons. PERHAPS REM DID NOT TURN INTO SAND; PERHAPS SHE JUST HAPPENED TO DROP THE DEATH NOTE INTO A PILE OF SAND. OH, REM, YOU'RE SO CLUMSY. We thought for a moment that you and L were dead! Don't do these things to us!)

I'm really curious about L's 'It's nearly time to say farewell' after the footrub. I hope there's an explanation for that. AN EXPLANATION LIKE 'IT'S NEARLY TIME TO SAY FAREWELL BECAUSE I AM ABOUT TO FAKE MY DEATH'.
