'Oh, No! It's Evolving!'

THE TERRIFYING ALIENS OF TORCHWOOD:

WE WANT YOUR CHILDREN TO BECOME POKÉMON MASTERS

This is entirely my brother's fault. On seeing the vague shape of the 456 through the smoke, he immediately said, "It's Doduo."

I now cannot think of it as anything else.

In other news: Torchwood is still good! There are points at which I am genuinely fearful! Jack and Ianto's relationship is being developed beyond 'we are occasionally caught going at it for fanservice'! Rhys adds smileys! Gwen hates them! 'Need his moth'! Oh, Torchwood, why couldn't your first two series have been like this?

On a perplexingly related note, I was playing Pokémon Gold earlier, and Wade the Bug Catcher suddenly called me up just to say 'Hey, how are you? My Caterpie's really energetic! And I almost caught Rattata the other day! It was soooo close, too!', and all of a sudden my heart was exploding. POKÉMON TRAINERS. CALLING EACH OTHER UP JUST TO TALK ABOUT THEIR POKÉMON. I love the original Pokémon games, but never did I realise just how much adding inane telephone conversations would improve them. It made me feel so much more immersed in the world! Yes, all of the trainers say variations on the same thing, but I don't even care.

I SAW IT AS SOME SORT OF BIRD-THING TOO AND NOW FGFFFGFHFFFF WAY TO GO, RIONA'S BROTHER, RUIN THE DRAMATIC TENSION WHY DON'T YOU.

My heart! It was not prepared for such FEELINGS from Torchwood! What is all this 'good TV' malarkey going on?!

I was scared, right up until it vomited on the glass and then I just thought of it as a rather temperamental, bossy two year old who can't keep their stomach contents down. And then it did the children thing and I got scared all over again. Oh Torchwood.

I was watching it with my mother in law, and was wondering if there were two aliens having a fight in there, when I suddenly realised the correct answer.

Travel sickness.

The mother in law agrees.

My thoughts about this episode are mainly "WHY IS IT NOT TOMORROW YET?!".

[identity profile] perrie.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! As soon as each one finishes I am aching for the next one. It's like Dickens! On TV! Every night!

I'm considering actually watching this series, because everyone I know says good things about it, but I'm waiting to find out if Mr. Frobisher is who I irrationally hope he is. I have an incredibly wild guess which isn't an actual spoiler, but I'm not going to tell you because it could possibly be right, then I'd have accidentally spoiled you, and I'd feel bad.

Clearly, I need madder guesses.

Why are David Boreanaz and Stephen Fry suddenly hanging out on my television? What am I watching?

[identity profile] urawrd.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONES.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. I was pretty sure David Boreanaz hadn't actually killed multiple people, necessitating Stephen Fry dragging him around for food, trying to keep him from shooting ice cream trucks again.

This is a very strange show.

Bones may be made for Riona. It's got implausible crossovers, AU episodes, brothers sacrificing for each other, and semi-gratuitous Stephen Fry.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
No, my guess is actually much stranger.

[identity profile] urawrd.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It's been so good. We still get all the lols, but now we have actual added drama! Keep it up, Torchwood!

[identity profile] bubbles-san.livejournal.com 2009-07-09 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Like you, I had sworn off Torchwood, but perhaps I ought to give this series a go, when I can think of something other than Star Trek for more than five minutes.

Because at the moment, I'd probably just spend the whole time speculating about what would happen if the Enterprise crashed in Wales. (oh my. I have just imagined Scotty's probable reaction to the hub. The Enterprise would not be happy.)

[identity profile] bubbles-san.livejournal.com 2009-07-09 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It is when you're actually trying to take in the plot! I'd be too busy thinking about what would happen to pay attention to what was. (Jack would start hitting on Chekov, because no one can resist Chekov, and Sulu would be furious. He'd be making these noises to express how furious he was, but he can't just go get out his sword and whack at him because that would be conduct unbecoming of a Starfleet officer or something. Eventually Jack would get the point and go be intergalactic space hussies with Kirk.

This.

I don't know, do Doduos vomit a lot?

I love how they're in fog and you can't see them. Also, I do think they've got tentacles of some sort, so I don't think they're really birdlike.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Top Gear Dog vomits a lot. Is it TG?

Richard Hammond vomits a lot too, maybe it's both of them.

[identity profile] amy-wolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
A three-headed creature consisting of Top Gear Dog, Richard Hammond, and...some kind of alien, maybe? Or that Pokemon?

I trust you're suitably excited about Heart Gold & Soul Silver?

Which one will you get? I'm all over Silver like queer on John Barrowman. :D Of course, I got the original Silver first, and played it until the save file died and then resorted to playing Gold.
