I continue to stampede through Persona 5 with a fervour that borders on the alarming. I haven't loved a game this much in years. The past fortnight has been a blur of talking to a cat and taking baths that make me more attractive and stealing hearts, which surprisingly is unrelated to my attractiveness (although Joker adjusting his gloves as he runs could probably steal a few hearts in the other sense).
Just overheard someone in the school corridor say, 'Oh, yeah, have you heard about that detective, Akechi?' Apparently Akechi does exist! I knew protagonist/Akechi was the biggest pairing in the fandom, so I was slightly puzzled that I was thirty-eight hours into the game and there was no sign of a character named Akechi anywhere.
Yusuke says he can't look after us at school: 'That duty rests on your broad shoulders, Rei.' Are you flirting, Yusuke? I'm afraid I'm taken.
Hey, the game asked a question I didn't have to look up the answer to for once! I already knew that people started dreaming in colour more after the introduction of colour television.
Oh, here's Akechi in the flesh! He seems too nice and I am SUSPICIOUS, because there's already Ryuji for shippers who want a nice guy to pair the protagonist up with. There must be a reason protagonist/Akechi is so much more popular even though Akechi is introduced much later in the game, which makes me expect some sort of rivalry or antagonism to give the pairing some bite. He's a detective, so he's probably trying to catch us.
It's interesting to see the game looking at the morality of forcibly changing people's personalities.
Akechi looks a little like Light Yagami, which is disconcerting. And, like Light, he's very interested in justice (although, very unlike Light, he doesn't believe in vigilantism).
It's good to see everyone hanging out in Rei's attic. Friendship!
I'm grateful to Ann for being the one to tell Sojiro that Yusuke needed a place to stay; I was not looking forward to that conversation. (I laughed aloud when Rei wordlessly jolted Morgana in retaliation for suggesting it.)
Makoto finally snapping and standing up for herself is a great moment.
Makoto... snapping and standing up for herself and thus obtaining a talking motorbike that lets her cause nuclear explosions, apparently. This is the most Square Enix game I've ever played that isn't by Square Enix.
