I'm Captain Basch!
I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT SUPERNATURAL NOWADAYS. It has become so weird and meta. Here we are, happily 'shipping pairings in the show, and the show turns around and starts 'shipping us. It is bizarre. Who needs Livejournal entries to talk about Supernatural when Supernatural is so willing to talk about itself?
I was a little worried, at first, that this episode would be a rather mean-spirited depiction of the fandom, but by the end I was convinced that Kripke loves us really. Awww. (Possibly an inappropriate amount, given the Chuck/Becky. Which I sort of massively loved, but also found extremely confusing. Is Supernatural/fandom now canon? Because that's - that's really strange canon.) WE SAVE THE DAY. US.
I enjoyed the episode! I am just becoming increasingly bewildered by the dizzying levels of self-referentiality in Supernatural. Back in the first season, who could have predicted that the future would involve in-canon Supernatural conventions and Wincest fangirls taking an active role in the plot? I don't really object, but it is very odd indeed.
(I have to wonder what Supernatural watchers who aren't in fandom think of all this.)
Hmmm, that wasn't really long enough to justify an entry, was it? What else can I say?
...well, there is a video on YouTube of nothing but Vaan saying 'DON'T LISTEN TO ONDORE'S LIES'. Repeated over and over again. For five minutes.
It is the most inane thing in the entire world (with the possible exception of this), and twenty seconds in I was laughing so hard I was crying.
(I didn't watch the entire thing, if you're wondering. I managed to stop it after a minute or so. Had I watched it all, I wouldn't have been able to post this for shame.
That minigame was a nightmare.)
On the subject of 'WHY DOES THIS EXIST?'-reaction-inducing things on YouTube, have three John Barrowmans dancing to 'Single Ladies' in tinfoil trousers, if you haven't seen it already.
Ah, the Internet. Humanity's finest invention. I think what we can learn from this is that I should always make sure my reaction posts have a fair degree of substance, because otherwise the things I will dredge up to fill the rest of the entry will be incredibly stupid.

I am still waiting for the bodyswap episode. ANY WEEK NOW, SERIOUSLY.
My only objection to the Supernatural convention was that there weren't nearly enough women. I think there was a female Bobby, but 90% of the people there were men!

What I mean, is I wonder what they think of stuff like that? They won't get the references to things, and I'm scared Supernatural will drive away all it's fans that aren't... fangirls/boys.
I especially thought it about Becky writing slash. I mean, she's writing gay incest on the show. To us lot, that's sort of... whatever. To another person, it's sick, wrong, weird...
I'm rambling, but yes. I don't mind when the actors are talking about fandom and slashers and whatnot, but I sort of wish the show wouldn't.

I ALREADY HEAR THAT EVERYTIME I READ THE NAME "BASCH" (even though it's Vaan and not Basch!) alongside its good friend "I'm Basch on Ronsenberg of Dalmasca!!!" Now it's stuck in my head again! D:
Incidentally this is the first bit of FF12 I ever saw when my brother was playing it!

So I've decided that I'll listen to 'Don't Listen to Ondore's Lies' until it finishes. I. Am. Strange.
And then I'll watch Barrowman doing single ladies and it'll be amazing and make me forget all about how dumb I am. 8D
Oh yes and this ridiculous comment is because I'm ignoring the Supernatural section. At one point in the future you're going to get me going through all your old SPN entires and commenting on them as I watch the episodes. xD

You know, I wondered too, and when I called home to talk to my mother about the episode, I fully expected her to be very confused and have lots of questions. But she loved it! Even though I'm pretty sure she doesn't understand the concept of fandom at all and doesn't do anything to involve herself in it :P

horrifyinghilarious. The sad thing is I can actually see Barrowman agreeing to make something like that (because I'm pretty sure it's an edit). Ffff. What a dork. I can't quite decide if my favorite part is the river-dancing or the jazz hands at the end. Or wait - maybe it's his cracktastic grin throughout the entire thing.

It involves the name "Oliver" and a considerable amount of confusion.
