Following a bit of drama in my fandom of the moment, I've removed paragraphs from a few entries and locked a few things down. I suppose that, as I seem to somehow be on the first page of Google results for certain searches, I do have a responsibility to this fandom, and I'm very sorry if I made anyone uncomfortable by pointing directly to certain things in public.

(Following advice, I'm leaving the Pokémon AU public, in the hope that anyone looking for the purpose of pointing and laughing will be distracted by its harmless gen-ness and not dig until they find the fishier stuff. I hope everyone's at ease with that decision.)

I'm certainly not planning to go completely friends-only any time soon, because I simply can't feasibly have everyone on my flist, and I enjoy interacting with all of you. I'm just going to be a bit more cautious about what I link to from now on.

Something I hope you all realise: if I'm bothering you in any way, you're welcome to talk to me directly about it. Anonymous commenting is enabled on all my public entries, if you feel uncomfortable approaching me under your username. I always try to be polite and reasonable, and I hope I'm not intimidating. Look, anonymous commenting is on right here! If something's troubling you, please feel free to air it. I'll even turn off IP logging for a couple of days. (Other acceptable uses of anonymous commenting, of course, include anonymously saying nice things, anonymously roleplaying and anonymously writing fic, but I want you to know that you're welcome to bring any grievances directly to me.)

(EDIT: I don't mean to worry anyone! Nobody's attacked me personally; there was just a minor 'non-fandom people finding us' scare, and someone made a general sweary comment about leaving things public that happened to apply to me.)

Everything's fine! Sorry if I worried you. Someone on the anon meme just got a bit shirty with people who leave their RPF unlocked in personal journals. They have a point, but after some consideration I've decided to keep the Pokémon AU unlocked, because it's quite innocent, if weird, and draws outside attention away from the entries on my journal in which I actually discuss real-person pairings.

Although it occurs that - rather than locking your lj down, or even considering it, might it be easier to just make your journal un-googleable (http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/?cat=privacy)? Obviously you don't have to - I missed all this drama and am in no way personally whatevered by the decisions you make wrt your own lj - but it might be easier for you, if you wanted.

As far as I know, anything that's already up there will stay up there and can be found through Google. It just changes the privacy for future writings, so the data can't be mined to be searched.

So randomly: I was just playing Kingdom Hearts II wth my girlfriend, and we mentioned that a Kingdom Hearts/Silent Hill crossover would be a wonderful idea, given that Sora apparently goes to worlds which involve photorealistic zombies.

Aw, I'm sorry there has been unpleasantness. I've been following srs bsns drama in SPN fandom the last few days and it all just gets a bit exhausting after a while. Still, Brooker fandom is small and full of smart people and it sounds like it was all handled well.

It's up to you what you want to leave public, unless it's a public entry made against the rules e.g. in a comm that forbids public entries or something but on your own journal, that's your business. You wrote it; you were presumably aware at the time you wrote it that the people it's about might find it one day and you are able to decide yourself how to react to that if it happens; it's not up to anyone else in a fandom to dictate what writers can leave public as long as the writer takes responsibility for their work. If people are that worried about the fandom that they're demanding everyone hides all the fic in it, they shouldn't be in it in the first place.

I am making use of anon to say that even if you accidentally tripped over holding a stack of our most bizarre outlandish fanfiction signed with our full names and addresses, right in front of Charlie himself, and then watched in helpless, immobile horror as he read every single word of it, I would still think you are one of the most genuinely awesome people on the internet.

I wanted to apologise for dragging your name into the whole mess- I didn't even realise that's what I had done until you started responding. I linked to that post of yours directly only to point out that it had links to the communities, and thus google would be leading people straight to them through your post. Oh, please don't worry about that! I was a bit uneasy about being directly linked from the meme, but the comment was deleted, so no harm done. What troubled me was the hostile tone of the comment about locking fic, and I don't think you had anything to do with that. I definitely understand why you made that comment, and I don't hold anything against you at all.

Not that I could, because of course I don't know who you are. But, even if I did, I wouldn't.

Okay, that came off as rather scary at first, but the ETA was reassuring. I've had a few friends get nasty treatment from various fandom-related wankstorms, and I was worried someone was going after you for something. I have no idea what happened (though skimming through the comments here, I can guess), but just wanted to pop in and say: YOU ARE TOTALLY AWESOME. I am sending lots of awesome waves and awesomesauce your way, and I hope everything turns out okay. (Though it looks like it has already turned out okay? I hope so, at least.)

On a less serious note, Arthur and Cubone look appropriately dramatic, though I would be interested in knowing how he would handle a Cubone if it starts crying too much.
