It Was Dark, So I Couldn't See Whether He Sparkled.

Here is an entry of scattered points:

– Out and about last night, I caught a fleeting glimpse of a young man who looked a bit like Robert Pattinson. He could conceivably, given that Pattinson grew up around here, have been Robert Pattinson. Was he Robert Pattinson? I suppose I'll never know.

– I've been sort of half-watching the current series of Strictly Come Dancing; my mother's been watching it and, although I have no real interest in or understanding of dance, I've often hung around while it's been on. I am even half-supporting a particular couple: Alex and James. I told my mum that I'd just arbitrarily picked a couple to support, but yesterday I confessed to the real reason:

Riona: I think they first caught my attention because I think he fancies her.
Riona's Mum: It's funny you should say that, because his partner last year was Pamela Stephenson, and she was quite old, and it definitely seemed like he fancied her. Maybe he just gives that impression.
Riona: Or maybe he just fancies everyone.

You're lucky I don't have any grasp of James' voice at all, because otherwise I'd be writing terrible angstfic about how he constantly contrives to fall in love with his partners, thus improving the chemistry of their dances but breaking his own heart. YOU'RE LUCKY.

(The other reason to watch Strictly is Bruno Tonioli, one of the judges, who is gloriously barking mad.)

– Curious scene in our sitting room recently: Joseph, wearing no trousers, leap-piggybacked onto Fred, whose trousers fell down in the process. At this point Dad entered the room, wearing an enormous furry hat and no trousers.

My family.

(Er, I should probably point out that they were all wearing boxers, so their nethers weren't entirely unclad. Also, Joseph is about six foot two, so having him leap onto your back is quite an event.)

– Yesterday I had to e-mail a company that had sent me some work to ask whether we could agree on a per-word rate, rather than their usual per-page, because it was set in a considerably larger page size than usual and so I'd have been paid a third less than my usual rate (I'd be losing about £170). I feel weirdly awful and guilty about asking, even though it's an entirely reasonable thing to request. And it was on Friday evening so I probably won't know whether they'll agree until Monday, augh.

– Whoops, every single image in my Misfits picture folder is of Seth. In my defence: his face.

Watching Strictly is a terrifying experience for me because I am constantly worried something will go wrong LIVE ON TV and even worse, it is hosted by an old person; I have a genuine fear of old people accidentally dying LIVE ON TV.

I mean.

DANCING!

Watching Strictly is, I think, a bit like watching panto- you just have to accept that you are getting an hour of undiluted camp and just go along for the ride, because nestled amongst the camp like tiny truffles are moments of actual gloriousness (holy crap, [insert name here] can really dance, everything Bruno says, finding out that some people are warmer and funnier than you thought).

I am also supporting Alex and James! Although I am doing it for different reasons, i.e the biggest girl crush on Alex. Her accent! Her face! Her everything!!!!

Bruno is SO RIDICULOUS and amazing. I'm pretty sure he's accidentally smacked Alesha in the face a couple of times in his enthusiasm. Also I watch entirely because of Ola Jordan and her catsuits. So.

Bruce Forsyth can fuck right off, though. Is that terrible to say? I don't even care, he makes me CRINGE and his "jokes" are in such bad taste.

My girlfriend ships James/Ola/Brendan, ahahaha.

Your family is wonderfully strange!

Good work asking about the per-word rate! It's kind of a lot of money on the line, and asking shouldn't hurt anything. And one of the reasons women tend to make less than men is because of the social pressure to be polite and take what's offered instead of asking for more.

It was a perfectly fair request, and I hope you get it.

It really does sound like they like your work, and unless they're a really horrible and badly-run company, they should at least consider your request and not stop using you just because you made it.

... Nethers, Riona. Nethers. Only you would say that.

ALSO Strictly, oh my god, it is all about Bruno and Craig. I want Craig to be my best friend.

He's just got such a brilliant drawling voice. It was a genuine shock to me when I found out he's Australian.

I say nethers.

Of course, I also use 'goolies' completely seriously, so make of that what you will.

This is so unrelated to anything in this post. I apologize ahead of time.

I watch a vidding community and an Uncharted vid (http://vidding.livejournal.com/2766914.html) with your ship was posted. I haven't watched it, because I don't play the games, but I figured I'd toss a link your way in case you wanted to give it a go. I don't know if there's much of a fandom, so even if it's a bit crap, it's still A FANVID FOR THAT THING YOU LIKE.

Also, I got your Christmas card and you are totally awesome at limericks! ♥ Expect your card vaguely sometime, as my to-do list today actually includes buying said card. I am rubbish at holidays.

"The other reason to watch Strictly is Bruno Tonioli"
I prefer Craig. I still have an inexplicable crush on him and an incredibly strong desire to see him dance with Derren Brown.
(I don't actually like or choose to watch this show but my mum watches it and it gets impossible to avoid.)

Just oh-so-amused at that James comment up there, cos me and the bf were talking about precisely that yesterday! XD We even said that he acted the same with Pamela last year, lolol. HE REALLY IS THAT OBVS.

In other news: duuude you've been watching (some) Strictly! I did not know this! I must admit, I started off watching it cos of my grandma, and going "oooh pretty dresses *___*" and then I fell in love with Anton and his amazingly gigantic grin and now I basically just have major crushes on a large amount of the pros (Brendan! ALIONA!!) and love it completely unironically (as does the bf, we are nowhere to be found on weekend evenings during Strictly season!) Also there's all dem tight pants. Mmf.
