If You Shoot Us, Someone Is Going To Get Hurt.
FULL MOON WO SAGASHITE WHAT ARE YOU DOING
STOP IT
NO
Having seen the episode 'My Father's Song': I don't like this 'no available footage of Mitsuki's father so we conveniently have no idea what he looked like' business at all.
PLEASE DON'T BE MITSUKI'S FATHER, TAKUTO
PLEASE DON'T
PLEASE
I HAVEN'T 'SHIPPED ANYTHING THIS HARD IN A VERY LONG TIME
I'VE ORDERED THE FIRST FOUR VOLUMES OF THE MANGA BASED SOLELY ON HOW MUCH I 'SHIP YOU TWO
TURNING OUT TO BE FATHER AND DAUGHTER WOULD BE AN EXTREMELY CRUEL JOKE.
...and then I watched the following episode. The one where Takuto is humming Mitsuki's father's song and has a sudden flashback to being on stage. The one where not even I can stay in denial for any longer.
WHAT DID I JUST SAY
(I'd actually written the following just before watching the episode that finally crushed my dreams:
This slow creeping realisation that he may be her father is horrible! I just want to know one way or the other! Preferably one way. The way where he's not her father and I can 'ship them whilst feeling like an only moderately bad person.
TURNS OUT KNOWING THE ANSWER IS NOT ACTUALLY AN IMPROVEMENT.
I honestly feel betrayed by this development. From a 'shipping perspective, this is the worst thing a plot has ever done to me. You can't tease me to the point where I'm genuinely expecting these characters to end up together and then drop the fact that he's her dad on my head!
Except apparently you can.
WELL I DON'T LIKE YOU EITHER, FULL MOON WO SAGASHITE.)
goddammit he doesn't have any real memory of his human life
she doesn't have any real memory of her father
he's essentially been reborn as a different entity
grasping desperately at straws here
why would you do this to me
WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME
WHY
WOULD YOU MAKE THEM FALL ON TOP OF EACH OTHER
AND STARE INTO EACH OTHER'S EYES FOR ABOUT TWENTY SECONDS
AND OBVIOUSLY BE THINKING ABOUT KISSING
(WE HEAR MITSUKI'S THOUGHTS, THEY ARE ABOUT TAKUTO'S LIPS)
AND HAVE THEM INTERRUPTED BY MEROKO
AND LEAVE THEM UNABLE TO STOP THINKING ABOUT IT AFTERWARDS
CREATING EXACTLY THE SORT OF UST I CANNOT POSSIBLY RESIST
YOU ABSOLUTE BASTARDS.
In less conflicted news: I haven't been posting much about Doctor Who lately, but I'm pleased with Clara Oswald so far. Coleman was very good in Waterloo Road (yes, people are sometimes good in Waterloo Road), so maybe I'm biased, but I feel there's something very likeable about Clara. I certainly identify with her more than I did with Amy already, perhaps because Amy was so fearless and I'm so very not. We're still getting to know Clara, though, so we'll see!

I like Clara! Although I tend to go through a thing where I start off absolutely charmed by a new companion, and gradually getting more and more discontent, so a big part of it may be that she's new.

Now that I think about it, my opinion on companions tends to alternate in a slightly unfair way. I loved Rose and Donna; I don't dislike Martha or Amy, but they suffered for coming after companions I adored. Liking Clara would fit right into that; having had Amy's run in between, I've come to terms with the loss of Donna and am now ready to embrace the new companion on her own merits.

I tend to get attached, want the story to go in a direction that's probably never going to happen, and get disproportionately annoyed when it doesn't. (Basically, I want to be the Doctor, so I always want new companions to travel and go "Yes, I want to go everywhere, see everything, and do impressively heroic things with my life!" and go forth and do that, without romantic feelings being central to where their stories go. Which is probably not going to happen with Clara, but the whole scattered-through-time thing is interestingly strange enough that it might?)

Oh, dear, I must look absolutely ridiculous.

Also, has the new series of Doctor Who started up now??? I remain oblivious to many things it seems.
