Katamari Damacy is not coming out in Europe.

...WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS IS MEAN AND MAKES ME SAD.

Also, almost as soon as I put up the ficrequest meme, a friend of mine actually requested that I write the 32,000-word poem on the beauty of cockroaches.

In conclusion: EVERYONE IS EVIL.

(he walked into the corridor and stared in horror at the mould
that caked the walls, water dripping steadily, the graffiti scrawled
across the long-abandoned building, and for reasons he knew not
there was unnerving, creepy music rising in the background and
the clicks and whirrs and chirrups of some insect that he could not see
it scuttled into the half-light, and his breath was taken away
although not literally (a common misconception, this is
Silent Hill after all) for now he saw that it was a cockroach
of all-surpassing beauty, I'm sorry, I can't stop cracking up.)

Incidentally, I can now recognise when Waiting For You is about to play on GamingFM because I've memorised exactly what the cheering at the beginning sounds like. I AM SUCH A DORK.

I'm sorry. ;_; I really am. I'm sorry I'm not a good enough God to bring Europe the awesomeness. It's a touch out of my control. ;.;

Fortunately, with the massive sales of the game, there's a very good chance that Minna Daisuke Katamari Damacy (which, as you may or may not know, is the sequel, and I have spent some time trying to think up a way to phrase that last bit that didn't sound really really patronising and have decided that it's a lost cause, so I'll just say that any patronising in the brackets was totally unintentional, not to mention unwelcome) will be released in PAL format!

...Which doesn't help with the here and now, though.

The new slimline model of the PS2 is surprisingly technologically advanced. The power cable that comes with it is, in fact, a convertor; you can plug an American PS2 into an English power point and it will work like a charm. The video system is also a convertor; you can plug it into an English TV and it will work like a charm. This, however, does not help with the fact that you do not have an American PS2, nor a copy of Katamari Damacy.

Buying an American PS2 is, I imagine, not an option. Even the new model PAL PS2s at amazon.co.uk sell at £100, which I imagine might be out of your immediate price range.

What I would suggest - and this may be considered a long shot, but you never know, it just might work - is to find an import games shop in your area (if there is one), and inquire as to renting a slimline NTSC PS2 and Katamari Damacy. Again, it might be a long shot. They might not have the actual consoles. They might not rent. Nonetheless, were I you, I would attempt to get some sort of deal going like that. (Also, try to rent Xenogears. Sure, they might be remaking it for the Xenosaga series, but they'll probably change stuff and anyway that will be in about nine years, if the Xenogears final screen is to be believed. It's a good game and I think you'd enjoy it.)

I would lend you mine, but what with the difference in countries, that might get expensive and/or dangerous. I sent a letter recently that just went completely missing. Gone!

Another thing to hope for is that it's soon being released onto the PSP, which might be cheaper. Of course, they might not release PSP Katamari Damacy in a sensible format either. They might not release the PSP in a sensible format. I don't know how these people's minds work! I don't believe these people's minds do work! Suikoden II is selling on ebay.co.uk for sixty pounds at the absolute minimum and they didn't release Suikoden IV in PAL format because it "wouldn't sell"! In what alternate universe does that make sense? Is Sony's headquarters actually in the Dark Silent Hill version of Tokyo? Are they worried that Patient Demons will eat any PAL copies of games they release? Or are they simply all entirely deranged?

...yes, well, that had to be said.
