I Guess It's Time To Roll The Credits.
I've finished Silent Hill 3! A handful of confused notes on the ending below the cut:
Being able to find some of the notes Harry made on the save point notepads is a great touch.
It's hilarious to me that Claudia stabs Vincent in front of Heather and Heather barely reacts. She just doesn't give a shit.
She does have mixed feelings on examining his corpse, though. 'Vincent's dead. I hated him too, but it doesn't mean this makes me happy. Why couldn't I have stopped Claudia...?'
I wasn't doing anything and then I gave birth to God and died! How do I prevent that?
Did I just abort God?
DID CLAUDIA JUST PICK UP THE GOD FOETUS AND EAT IT?
CLAUDIA, YOU CANNOT GET GOD INTO YOUR WOMB THAT WAY; YOU ARE PUTTING HER INTO ENTIRELY THE WRONG ORIFICE
Where did Vincent's corpse go? Did Claudia eat him, too? I have so many questions.
Heather breaking down once everything's over hit me right in the heart. Poor girl; she really hasn't had time to grieve.
Heather, don't threaten Douglas with a knife! That's a terrible joke!
I'm glad Sad Detective survived the game! It was nice to have a character who genuinely seemed to be on Heather's side.
I don't know where Heather's going to go now, but I sort of hope Douglas takes her in. She needs a parental figure and he needs someone.
Douglas reminds me a fair bit of Hank Anderson from Detroit: Become Human, actually; they're both lonely, self-loathing detectives who've lost a son and end up forming a connection to their respective protagonists. I'm not sure what to do with that similarity. 'Get them to make out' doesn't seem like the right answer.
And that's Silent Hill 3! On the Silent Hill confusion scale, it is less confusing than the original Silent Hill but more confusing than Silent Hill 2.
I really enjoyed Heather as a protagonist. She's fun in a way Harry and James aren't, and there's a lot of personality in her observations when she examines things. I can understand why Silent Hill 2 couldn't really have that levity - the idea of James Sunderland wisecracking makes me shudder; that'd be awful - but it was a pleasant change in Silent Hill 3.

Haha there were a number of theories about Vincent surviving and crawling off after he got stabbed since we never do see his body after a certain point. Or maybe it was just fic that did that, idk
YOU HAVE TO GET THE UFO ENDING FOR SH3, YOU HAVE TO, YOU HAVE TO

I just looked up the UFO ending requirements, and apparently you need to kill at least 333 enemies to unlock the weapon you need for it. I killed a grand total of fourteen enemies in my playthrough. Alas, I think I'm unlikely to get the UFO ending.

WELL AT LEAST YOU CAN WATCH THE UFO ENDING - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYdHXSwG1Qw
lol I have a hard time believing Vincent survived as well but I can't deny the possibility is there! I love Claudia just shanking him, it's so good.
Edit - ALSO LOOK AT THIS Edit 2 - and this

The UFO ending is also great! But my favourite ending in the series is probably the UFO ending for Shattered Memories, which I haven't even played. I was just compelled to watch it because I saw a picture on the Silent Hill wiki captioned 'Anime James interrupting the therapy session' and desperately needed to know more.

Yesss the Shattered Memories one is great. The SH3 one I think is primarily responsible for the Harry/James ship! Man, what were the big ships back in the day...? Harry/James, Henry/Walter (lol have you played SH4 yet), James getting raped by Pyramid Head... I don't remember any SPECIFIC pairings with Vincent but I do remember a lot of general thirst for him lol.

If you're curious about the big ships now, I've just taken a look at AO3's Silent Hill section. If you go by number of fics, the top three are James/Mary (my flawless OTP), Henry/Walter and James/Pyramid Head.
If you sort by kudos, though, which is the true test of demand, the top three fics are all explicit Pyramid Head/You, The Reader.

lol READER FICS CONTINUE TO RISE Dang, Harry/James is falling off! I remember it being common back in the day, haha. SH4 is... frustrating in a few ways. But I actually like it a lot in spite of that, it has a lot of really weird qualities to it that make it kind of unique. And I like Henry even though he's just a quiet boy with the personality of a toast. PEOPLE WERE REALLY MEAN TO HIM BACK IN THE DAY WHEN SH4 CAME OUT lol man it's weird to think, people were so harsh on SH4 because it ruined the series how could SH4 be SO BAD and little did they know what was waiting in store for them The real tragedy is that they never finished the UFO ending for SH4. WHAT WOULD THE ALIENS HAVE DONE WITH HENRY AND EILEEN, ARE THEY WITH HARRY AND JAMES, I WANT TO KNOW

I cackled out loud. Cos yep, that'd be my first thought too but it's not always right!
