Possible Candidate For My All-Time Favourite Soundtrack.

More of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33! I've beaten the two Axons and I've just entered the Monolith.

Pleased to report I've warmed to Verso, after initially just viewing him as Not Gustave! He's kind of a loser in a way I find endearing, and his interactions with the others at the campsites are great; it's a lot of fun to watch him and the expeditioners slowly, warily getting closer to each other. Makes me wish we'd had similar scenes with Gustave.

He's still not allowed in my party, though. I'm too attached to my Maelle-Lune-Sciel team, even though I'm struggling to find a good weapon for Lune.

Struck by Verso describing Sciel's calm attitude to death as 'an interesting philosophy for someone so young'. He hasn't really grasped the lives these expeditioners have lived, knowing since childhood exactly when they and their loved ones would die.

I'm cracking up at Sciel going 'hey, Verso, let's fuck' and Verso going 'hmm, she wants to do something together; I guess it must be... battle? Exploration?'

(Side note: Verso/Sciel/Lune? Could have some strong potential.)

I'm also delighted by Sciel asking 'When was the last time you seduced someone?' and Verso responding with 'Not counting Monoco?'

I said yes to Sciel's offer without hesitation, because I could definitely see these two having casual sex, but I'll be mildly disappointed if it ends up being depicted as more than casual.

Oh, the game actually lets me give input on the level of feeling behind their fling! I'm very pleased that we can respond to Sciel going 'let's keep this casual' with 'I feel used. But I like it.'

Can't believe the game went 'hey, you can make the boss of this area easier by fighting her tailor first!' and then 'but the tailor doesn't seem hostile', knowing full well that I do not have the heart to attack a non-hostile enemy. (I can't make myself go after the Pétanks, either.) I spared Sirène's tailor and suffered the consequences.

I've been wondering how people in this world would feel about people dying before their Gommage, so I'm glad we get to see that in Sciel speaking about her husband.

Given that Verso shares a voice with Clive Rosfield, and I've written incest fanfiction about Clive, am I speculatively eyeing Verso's relationship with Alicia? I don't have to answer that. Leave me alone.

In this game, I often find myself facing a powerful enemy, failing, going 'well, this is obviously impossible' and then beating them on the second try. It's pretty satisfying!

I've started prioritising Agility to a ludicrous extent. Pouring all of my points into it, neglecting all of my other stats. It's just so useful!

"Some kind of naked activity. ...wrestling? No, it involves nudity and genitals, must be anatomy research!"
"...sure, let's go with that."

I am still very excited that you're playing this game!

I love Verso, he's such a fascinating mess of a character that it's hard not to!

Sciel isn't my favourite character in the game, Maelle stands tall above all others, but considering that I love absolutely every character in this game that isn't saying much. She has so much depth, and her feelings about what happened to her husband absolutely break my heart!

I very rarely ship incest, usually, but I am very pleased to hear this. :DD There's so much potential there, is all I'm saying.

The background behind the OST is great, btw! The game is such a scrappy project that I love them finding a new artist online.

I love the OST; it reminds me of Nier (more Gestalt than Automata, but that's okay, it's not pulling the same stylistic tricks re: reasons for different versions of the same songs) but even more bombastic and incredibly willing to get weird, and I'm a sucker for a made-up language in lyrics.

Of the rest, I only overflow with spoilers, thus will keep my mouth shut. Except re: combat. It's so well balanced! The active elements within the turn-based structure make it akin to the Dark Souls school of game design insofar as practicing an enemy's move set is more than half the strategy. I love that, it's ingenious, and balances its own difficulty really well.

I fought the tailor and it created a new monster that I had to get past. The battle with Sirene was challenging enough :D

I've also had a few battles that have taken a couple of go's to get past, but I was always really close to getting through. I tend to adjust my party and their Lumina - sometimes their skills - and then I defeat it reasonably easily.

Not only me but also my wife, and today we are both cursing being busy at work and unable to carve out time to play more yet. 😁 Though I think we might both be sneaking some in our respective lunch breaks...

I think the tailor gives an outfit if you kill it... honestly, I tore through Sirene's place and left a trail of fabric and red string in my wake. Nothing was safe.

I can't decide who's my favorite between Gustave, Sciel and Lune. I think it might be Sciel, but it's just... too tough to pick. What an amazing cast!

I eventually settled on a weapon for Lune which generated light stains with every attack. It make casting what spells I wanted much easier, especially as around that time I was starting to use Lune's ice ability that hits three turns in a row and heals the party. Junk was busted in the best way.
