Also, Robot Dorothy.
I HAVE THE INTERNET.
The Internet-connection cable was being sold in the university bookshop, so obviously every student in Sussex had gone down there to buy it. When she realised that I was buying books as well as the cable, the assistant actually did a little flail. I immediately adored her.
I am in my room at the moment. It doesn't feel like home, but it doesn't feel like Hell, either. I haven't really got my head around the fact that I am actually going to be living here, but I think I might cope.
Last night, I met a girl who knew nothing about fanfiction but quickly became interested in the concept. Barely an hour after I had started explaining it to her, we were discussing the possibility of the Master raising a Jigglypuff while hanging out with Professor Moriarty. I don't think starts get much more auspicious than that.
I love you all so much.

It comes to feel like home surprisingly quickly, really. My Freshman year, I was in single-room dorm with another student who was practically the opposite of me in every way, but we got along great. We rearranged the furniture to feel comfortable, filled the walls with posters and the desks with knickknacks, and in no time flat it was messy and homely and wonderful. (You did bring posters, right? If not, I'm sure the masses of your Friendslist will send you some. Heck, we'll make you some, that's how cool we are.)

Also? I want an Umbreon.

(I have a large poster of a Dalek staring at me right now. But I would certainly not object if anyone wanted to make posters for me! Especially not if they were of the Master and Mewtwo drinking together.
You know what's rubbish? You're not allowed to put posters up on the walls; they have to go up on the noticeboard covering one wall of the room. This means that a) I need to buy drawing pins, and b) I cannot use posters to cover the unsightly bits of torn paper and glue left on the wall by the last tenant. STUPID UNIVERSITY.)

Wait, not allowed at all? In my dorm you could put up posters anywere, just not with pins unless they were on corkboard. Sticky-tack was fine.

Glad you're settling in, and if there's anything we can do to make it more homely for you? :)

And I'm glad everything's going all right so far!
