WHATEVER, CRAZY BRITISH WEATHER.

Happy Easter! Everyone seems to be ill at the moment, and I'm no exception, but I hope that at least some of you are well.

I haven't updated for a few days, so here are some things that happened during that time:

- On Thursday, I went to see the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain again! They are still absolutely amazing. Also, I met maestro1123, and seriously, how can every single Livejournal person I have ever met in real life be so awesome? I've met thirty-two people on my friendslist now, and I have very much enjoyed the company of every one of them. (And I think that my tendency to give gigantic crushing hugs has actually got worse. THIS IS THE DANGER OF GIVING ME LABELS: I GROW INTO THEM FAR TOO EASILY. When I was labelled 'that zombie girl', having previously being fairly uninterested in the undead (no, really), I immediately set to talking too much about zombies and writing zombie apocalypse fic. When people started calling me 'the queen of crackfic', I started writing crackfic and almost nothing but. Now that my LJ friends view me as 'the person who gives alarmingly enthusiastic hugs', it's only a matter of time before I actually knock someone over. I politely request that you do not take advantage of this tendency by labelling me 'the girl who gives all her money to her LJ friends'.)

Rather to my distress, maestro1123 said that I was 'surprisingly normal' in real life. CLEARLY I AM DOING SOMETHING WRONG.

- High School Musical 2 was on BBC One a few days ago, and so, because I've always been rather curious about this High School Musical thing, I sat down and watched it. I desperately, desperately want Ryan Evans to have a boyfriend in the next instalment - you know, unless the fact that he had an enormously homosexual song with Chad and then the two of them were wearing each other's clothes in their next appearance counts - but th_esaurus has crushed my hopes and dreams by reminding me that this is fairly unlikely in a Disney film. ALAS.

I am trying to think of a good boyfriend for Ryan from my other fandoms, but it is difficult. Maybe -

WAIT, I'VE GOT IT. RYAN EVANS/ZELL DINCHT. YES. (Ryan Evans/Ron Weasley could also potentially work.)

I enjoyed the film, in case you are wondering! It was thoroughly ridiculous, of course, and the plot was appallingly rubbish, but it was fun and had catchy songs. This is all I ask from a musical!

I recently discovered that two new people (a boy and a girl) have been cast in HSM3, and my immediate thought was "I hope the boy is Ryan's future boyfriend, for Riona's sake."

I got comps to see HSM the stage version when it came up here to Edinburgh a month ago, and let me tell you, the Ryan in that show was camper than Soho Square on Pride day. It was hilarious. :-D

There's apparently an HS musical 3 now too, or coming out soon? I don't know anything about the HS's except that they are ridiculous cheesy and to actually pay attention to the lyrics results in brain cell death, but I have no idea if the characters are re-used or not. If they aren't, you could certainly get away with something like a "continuation" =D (and if not, AUs anyone? Or perhaps, what happens after high school?) *bricked*

High School Musical 3 is coming out in the autumn, I think, and if Ryan does not get a boyfriend in it I shall be enormously disappointed.

It's not done--that was just an experimental to see how thinks would work. The sound is a little off (as I'm sure you notice) and the terrain is wobbly. Dance is being refined and costume bits are being added, but it's the beginning of a horrible, horrible idea. That you and Riona are in part responsible for, so.

Just thought I'd share.

(please don't spread it around yet--I want to wait until we have the final, good take before the internet is taken by storm, but I was pleased enough by the ridiculous so far that I wanted to share XD)

Oh, and of course comments of how to make it better to the suggestions of dance moves are welcome!

Well, Squall does have a tendency to press his hand to his forehead in a longsuffering fashion. It would amuse me very much if you worked that in somewhere.

Also, the first 'that is my plan' action in the original dance routine is possibly my favourite part of the whole thing. I would love to see Squall attempting it.

I just wanted to let you know that I've had both of those songs switching off repeat in my head ever since you introduced them to me, I've just put both on my mp3 player, and I've got the moves from each half memorized already. Thanks.

By the way, I don't know how uplifting this might be, if at all, but there are chances that Ryan, while not getting a boyfriend in the next film, probably won't have a girlfriend either. Because yes, while Disney must be safe, they have been absolutely notorious for subtext in the past and I could see them evening things out a little. After all, who would ever suspect?

(Except people like us. I mean "Chad: I'll show you how I swing" ... "Ryan: That's what I mean, that's how you swing." Honestly.)

Actually, I think fifty people on a golf course doing the dance would make it seem less ridiculous. At least then he isn't flailing all by his lonesome. (Though the fact that it's a "loner" song would be quite the irony) On the other hand, of course, fifty people prancing wildly around the astroturf would be an amusing spectacle indeed.

Hmm...I don't know how I'd ever manage fifty, but we'll see what happens once I've got the choreography down. (And I am not seriously considering this stop it.)

At work today, whilst listening to the song (yes they are both on my player now shut up), I got a horrible, terrible, amazingly wonderful idea. And you don't get to know what it is until it's done (though it may take a bit, sorry)!

Now, I don't know if I'd be able to manage the fifty people or the golf course, but could you, by chance, provide with a few decent screenshots of Squall?

There are six pages of Final Fantasy VIII first-disc FMV screenshots here; I've linked to the second page because that's where Squall first appears. (He's the dark-haired one with the furred collar, just in case you don't know him (you're not a Final Fantasy player, are you? (EDIT: OH, WELL, OF COURSE I WOULD SAY THIS BEFORE LOOKING AT YOUR LIVEJOURNAL TO SEE THAT YOU WERE CONSIDERING A SQUALL COSPLAY. I'm sorry; I have an appalling memory))). And there are thousands of screenshots here, but the ratio of Squall to people-who-are-not-Squall is lower, so you may have to look through quite a bit.

This sounds as if it could end up being glorious levels of insane.

XD it's quite all right. I'm not an FF player actually. Don't own the games. What I know is through friends, fandom, and a smattering of my own looking-things-up. I can, for the most part, identify people though.

It already is reaching rather spectacular levels of insane. I'll keep you updated. <3
