Today, I went to Thorpe Park with

th_esaurus. My history of going on rides was practically nonexistent and everything in the park looked like it wanted to kill me and eat my skin, so, yeah, I was on-the-verge-of-crying terrified.

AND THEN SHE DRAGGED ME ONTO ALL THE SCARIEST RIDES AND WE HAD ICE-CREAM (NOT ON THE RIDES) AND TRIED TO NAME ALL THE POKÉMON FROM MEMORY (ALSO NOT ON THE RIDES, THERE IS NO TIME TO MUSE ON THE CLASSIFICATION OF NIDORAN WHEN YOU ARE BEING FIRED TWO HUNDRED FEET INTO THE AIR AT A MILLION MILES AN HOUR (SERIOUSLY, LOOK AT THAT THING)) AND IT WAS PRETTY MUCH THE BEST DAY EVER.

Also, we concluded that Sam Winchester is an Abra (fairly undeveloped psychic powers! cute but has the potential to evolve into something that looks incredibly evil!) and Dean is a Growlithe. (IF YOU HAVE EVER LAIN AWAKE AT NIGHT THINKING 'I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT POKÉMON RIONA WOULD BE AND I AM DYING TO TELL HER BUT I CANNOT FIND A CONVENIENT WAY OF SLIPPING IT INTO CONVERSATION', WORRY NO LONGER, FOR HERE IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY.)

Seriously. Amazing day. Amazing day of joy.

(As we were buying the tickets, a scrolling message informed us that 'Logger's Leap' was currently unavailable. I misread this as 'Loser's Leap', which would clearly be a much better ride.)

Also, Sam could easily be a Psyduck as well, if we're going with undeveloped psychic powers. And Psyduck is kinda adorable AND the worse his headache gets, the stronger his powers are. And what does Sam get when he has visions? A HEADACHE.

The rollercoasters were indeed far less AAAAH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH than the spinny-thing. Although Colossus buffeted my ears rather a lot.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in this assessment. That's more than enough to scare me.

I went to Thorpe Park 2 weeks ago and Stealth was awesome-cool! Did you go on Tidal Wave???

We did not, alas! It was getting late when we got there and we didn't think there would be time to dry off before we left. We did stand behind the windows of the pier and watch the wave coming towards us, though, which was impressive.

Woe! It was as if you were inside the wave! Though I did freeze to death and have to go stand for some time in one of the dryers afterwards.

I have been on one of those! AND MY ONLY REGRET IS THAT I WASN'T ALLOWED TO WEAR MY GLASSES, so when we reached the top and paused, staring down at nothing but a VERY LONG DROP right before plummeting, even though I was in the very front, I couldn't see anything. Stupid eyes!

It was fun! Though I've spent a lot of time in parks riding rollercoasters, which probably helps with the Not Being Terrified bit.

My glasseslessness distressed me, too, but only when we were getting on the rides and I was going HUH? WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING? WHERE IS EVERYTHING? When we were actually hurtling around, I think that perhaps not being able to see properly made it slightly less terrifying.

Yeah, there's that. I had to have my brother steer me around, which is always annoying and mildly embarrassing. (Are you sure I was going completely the wrong way? "Yes.")

I am not really sure if being able to see would make it better or worse! But I am extremely frustrated by my inability to naturally see anything that isn't perched right on my nose. ...And, you know, if I'm going to be shot up four hundred feet and then dropped to my death, I'd at least like to be able to enjoy the view. I COULD SEE MY HOUSE FROM UP HERE, IF ONLY I COULD SEE.

THAT LOOKS TERRIFYING. But I love rollercoasters. As long as I have a friends hand to grab onto and they don't mind me screaming and woooing. I believe this is the last one I was on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ride_of_Steel_%28Darien_Lake%29 but I'm not positive if that was it.

AAAAHHH I went there with my dad a couple of years ago and it was OMGAWESOME!

My dad and I both don't enjoy spinny rides, but speed and height? OH YES! We queued for Stealth for almost an hour, but the ride was so exhilarating, we immediately got back in line the instant we got off. We were willing to queue for 45 minutes for a ride that lasted barely 2 minutes.

Stealth apparently lasts twelve seconds, and people will happily queue for one million hours to go on it. Frequenters of theme parks are clearly all lunatics. AND YET ON SOME WEIRD LEVEL I UNDERSTAND.

It was wonderful! I don't know why I went so many years without going near any rollercoasters.

Well, actually, I do: it's because they're bloody terrifying. But it was still a mistake.

Also, I want to argue that Dean is totally a Lickitung, although he'd probably bitch FOREVER about being a pink Pokemon.

Actually, there isn't really a Pokemon who flirts all the time, so Dean has to be Brock.

ALSO. the teachers (it was a school trip, ololol) went on tidal wave, then collossus, and were magically very nearly completely dry when they emerged from the latter.

Dude! I totally went to Thorpe Park yesterday. I did not go on Stealth however. Looking at it scared the shit out of me. I went on Nemesis Inferno three times instead.

Nemesis Inferno was excellent! I burst into terrified tears just before boarding and felt a bit silly when it turned out not to be remotely frightening.

EDIT: Nemesis Inferno, that is. Stealth was pretty frightening, because nought to eighty in two seconds is not normal.

My boyfriend was going "I'mgoingtodieI'mgoingtodieI'mgoingtodieI'mgoingtodie" as we approached the front of the queue and then had a similar response to you.

I'm very impressed you managed Stealth. I was planning on doing it but then I had a closer look and it was like "Ooh, those teacups look fun!" I also wouldn't go on the slammer - I don't mind going upside down but it's when it's really slowly that it bothers me. Like the corkscrew bit on Colossus where you fall out of your seat. Not fun.
