The Title Is Amazing, By The Way.

I feel completely blasphemous for saying this, because what sort of madwoman wants less Bobby?, but I really do think that perhaps Bobby is more awesome in small doses. Although 'Shoot! Don't talk!' was brilliant. Also, I would have liked more Ruby and Castiel, because Castiel utterly fascinates me (even if he wasn't quite so aethereal and otherworldly in this episode; where did that go?) and, you know, Ruby! (New Ruby didn't bother me so much in this episode, although I am quite saddened to see that she's probably not going to be frequently jumping bodies throughout this season. It looks like her occasional unRubyish behaviour is largely because the 'angel' thing is freaking her out, at any rate. So I'll forgive you for the moment, Ruby, but, you know, any time you want to go back to being sarcastic and awesome...?)

(I think my parenthetical point is COME BACK TO ME, PREVIOUS ASPECTS OF RECURRING SUPERNATURAL CHARACTERS.

...AND BY 'SUPERNATURAL CHARACTERS' I MEAN CHARACTERS THAT ARE SUPERNATURAL, NOT CHARACTERS OF SUPERNATURAL. ALTHOUGH OF COURSE I MEAN THAT AS WELL.

SUPERNATURAL SUPERNATURAL CHARACTERS?)

My sexualtensionometer was definitely going off during that last scene between Castiel and Dean, but of course any physical Castiel/Dean is impossible (or at least, you know, creepy) because Castiel is possessing someone. I have a theory that demons (and, presumably, angels) can choose how conscious their hosts are, so a malicious demon like Meg will force her hosts to watch as she uses their bodies whilst a presumably-less-malicious demon like Ruby will let her host sleep through the possession, but I think that even if Castiel's host were unaware of what was going on Dean/Castiel would still be uncomfortable. Stupid pairings that are simultaneously hot and morally unjustifiable.

ITA with the less "aethereal and otherwordly" thing. I was put off a bit by how different Castiel seemed. But oh, how I still love him.

I still love Bobby. Still annoyed by Ruby. Still waiting with bated breath for next Thursday. :)

I KNOW RIGHT? HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS IS NOT WHAT WE TUNE IN FOR. DUH.

Word.

I think Castiel was just pissed off and tired in this episode. His side is losing (this early? God!), he's lost his angel friends and now this annoying little human is calling him a dick. Not saying he was right in his threat to send Dean back to hell (because that's just an awesome thing to do to a guy that has PSTD!) but still, I'm sympathetic.

:( I was just going to come here to flail at you about how awesome Bobby was and how I wish there was this much Bobby in every ep.

>:(

No, it's too late, I'm defriending you.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

AHAHAHAHAHA

AHAHA

Dude I could never defriend you EVEN IF YOUR OPINION ABOUT BOBBY IS BAD AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD because then who on my flist would make ridiculously long posts about Pokemon for me to lol at with?

NO ONE. THAT'S WHO.

Bobby's Pokemon is totally something longsuffering and cranky like, idk, a geo... geo... THE ROCK ONE.

If Castiel is A Bit Dodgy (as is still canonically feasible), he could have creepysex with Dean, and offer a "Of course my host would be totally fine with that! I'm an angel!" excuse semi-convincingly after the fact. Dean being Dean might not think about the issues while there was sex with someone acting exactly like a willing partner starting to happen, and have an after-the-fact uncomfortable realization. It'd be a good way to do "Castiel is A Bit Dodgy" in fic, actually.

We can be blasphemous together! Throughout the episode I was thinking both, "BOBBY IS AWESOME" and "There needs to be more SamnDean. And more Castiel. And more Ruby, while we're at it."

I was also kind of disappointed that Castiel's other-worldliness was not coming through nearly as strong, though what DID happen in his scenes (the total creepiness when he said he'd send Dean back to hell! LUCIFER) made up for it tenfold.

Stupid pairings that are simultaneously hot and morally unjustifiable.

Sigh. Yeah. I was so excited about a slash pairing finally. And then I remembered the posession thing. Grrr.

I wouldn't put it past them!

btw, podfics of your stories continue to delight me.

I liked the Bobby, but definitely do not want it to become the norm. The odd "Look at his awesome!" episode is cool, but the boys do not need that much having healthy relationships with people who support and care about them. Okay, they obviously and blatantly do need it, but that's precisely why they shouldn't get it.

I kind of like Dean's "What the hell is God up to?" rage, even though it was mixed up with his blatant self-esteem issues. I also liked the ghosts using Dean's low self-esteem in an effort to kill him. Best plan to kill Dean Winchester ever! "We shall kill you with your own sense of unworthiness!"

I liked Castiel better in this. He reminded me weirdly of John Constantine from Hellblazer (not to be confused with John Constantine from Constantine). I heartily approve of any Dean/Dodgy Castiel slash, except for how it gets to the same big issue as all Sam/Ruby.

And Sam/Ruby is now explicitly at least dub-con, depending on what you think of the state of the girl whose body Ruby's using. Which is interesting timing, as it's just been canonically hinted at happening.

And I really want you someone to write the Dean/Castiel where Castiel's all "My host is totally cool with this, promise!" and Dean's all "Why should I believe you when I don't believe anything else you've said?" except I can't figure out how to not have it hopelessly bogged down in the whole Christianity and Homosexuality thing, because I'm American, and the Christianity I run into on a daily basis tends to center heavily around arguments about three things; female submissiveness, control of a woman's reproductive system, and the ethics of guy-on-guy or girl-on-girl action (with the odd argument as to whether you can treat Genesis as a metaphor and still be Christian). So it clearly needs to be written by a European, who can be less "But this is what the people on TV are presenting as the central tenants of Christianity! It must be important!"

We're not bad people as long as we stick to tormenting fictional people. That's not bad, it's just artistic.

And see, this is why other people should write it! Because they don't have my irrational hangups! And because I didn't get to know newbie1990 and her awesomeness nearly as well as I liked before she had to leave the internet.

Dammit, other people, write my ideas for me!

I heartily approve of your Sam/Ruby idea.

You know, when Bobby got hit in the back by the twin girl spirits I was sure he was dead. Because there was so much Bobby in the episode that the writers were obviously building up to how everyone who gives them support will DIE in a horrible fashion and leave them all ALONE OMG.

...Then he got up with nothing except a slight limp. Oh Bobby, how are you so awesome?

(Although now I'm more convinced than ever that he'll get axed before the series is over.)

Bobby dying would be horrible! ...in a slightly genius way.

Castiel's Host

[identity profile] fictionalfemme.livejournal.com 2008-10-27 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Just came across this journal and, even though it's been a month, felt the need to comment regardless. Hope that's okay...

What if we go with the premise that Castiel's host is both gay and a devout Christian and the reason he was praying (the reason Castiel chose him as his host) was for deliverance from his 'sinful urges'?

So, when Dean meets Castiel, Castiel's host has a physical reaction, and the angel automatically suppresses it. -But- the angel is fairly inexperienced in taking physical form and becomes intrigued by the sensations?

And then one day, during some situation or another (I can't think of a specific at the moment), Castiel lets it slip to Dean that his host has 'feelings' for Dean.

And then Dean would go all awkward with the angel after knowing that 'he' has the hots for him....

/no, I'm definitely not planning on writing this/
