rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (highway to hell)

A Title Devoid Of Spoilers.

- I really liked Zachariah's 'pfft, do you really think Lilith could have broken sixty-five seals already were we actually trying to stop it?' You are not as useless as you seem, angels! You are gits, but you are not as useless as you seem.

- I wonder how Derren-Brown-as-Ithuriel would fit into the angelic apocalypse plan. Presumably he would fight against it, because it would destroy at least a large part of humanity, and Derren likes humanity. Humanity is hilarious.

- So Uriel was rebelling against an authority that had the same goal as him. Hmm. (Also, Ruby and Uriel had the same goal. Let's have some fanfiction about their bitchy seal-breaking adventures together.)

- I actually yelled 'YOU BASTARDS' at the screen when Sam was listening to Dean's fake voice message. YOU DON'T DO THAT TO SAM, YOU ANGELIC GITS. Although on one level I very much liked it, because I had been confused when Castiel told Dean that his phone wouldn't work earlier. 'But, er, didn't Sam get a message from him? Is anyone checking this for continuity?' I am sorry for doubting you, Supernatural continuity editors.

- I was very much expecting Castiel to make Dean drink his blood when he cut himself. You did that on purpose, didn't you, writers? (I was, I have to say, mildly disappointed that he didn't.)

- OH, FINE, RUBY, BE (...have been? Nothing sounds right!) WORKING FOR THE OTHER SIDE ALL ALONG. BREAK MY HEART. SEE IF I CARE.

I wonder whether the plan was to have Ruby working towards Lucifer's release from her introduction. Was she ever intended to be a 'good' demon? I'd love to know.

Also, I am going to miss her quite a lot. And I do like that Sam obviously wasn't just a tool to her; she did actually care about him. She just happened to, er, be manipulating him horrifically.

- Oh, Sam, you can't get away from every girl with whom you have sex dying even if the girl was a corpse to begin with. (Let us ignore 'Sex and Violence'; that was obviously a mistake. They were probably just having a naked conversation.)

- NOW I'LL NEVER GET TO SEE RUBY POSSESSING A MAN WHILST MAINTAINING HER FEMININE BODY LANGUAGE. Alas!

- I thought Supernatural finales were supposed to kill everyone! This one only got rid of Ruby! That's pathetic, Supernatural. Oh, wait, there was Lilith as well, wasn't there? Whoops. Forgot about her.

LEAVING US WITH PRECISELY NO RECURRING FEMALE CHARACTERS. You'd better bring Ellen and Jo back, Supernatural. (Oh, we still have Anna, don't we?)

- I enjoyed this episode, but I did feel it was a tiny bit predictable. Last year had the 'no, surely they wouldn't actually send one of the two main characters to Hell' shock, but after that did anyone really expect them to stop Lucifer?

Also, the episode title was a bit of a giveaway. ('Lazarus Rising' also had this problem. JUST STOP PUTTING 'RISING' IN YOUR EPISODE TITLES WHEN THE RISING IN QUESTION IS A HUGE PLOT POINT, SUPERNATURAL.)

- SAM AND DEAN ARE TOGETHER AGAIN

HAPPY ENDING

...no, seriously, the final seal was broken and the Apocalypse was beginning and all I was thinking was 'yay, the brothers' relationship has been repaired!' MY PRIORITIES ARE FINE.

- Speaking of my brilliant priorities: what Pokémon would Lucifer have?

To be very rude, it's SPN; they kill the girls/ people of colour. :/

Yeah, I think it is. Going from how much the show's creators know about fandom, they do seem to base what they write on what they see as popular :| Women being misogynistic is one of the worst things.

Jensen, Jared and Misha are certainly aware of a large part of fandom being crazy sexists: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoZYuKkjWGY

Now, if only they'd also be aware of their own show not doing a lot to discourage this sexism, that'd be dandy.

And as for the recurring people of colour... they're never really good guys either. The hunter in season 2 went from a good guy to being a crazy psycho, Henriksen started out as bad from the Winchesters' POV and then became good for five seconds before dying, and Uriel was evil as well.

Yeah, I don't really expect anything better than the basic privilege fail from ...anything, really, unless I trust the author/writing tema/producers a lot.

with the exception of one white female angel.
B-but do we still have Anna? Because it looked a lot to me like the angels got her last episode, when they were on a pier and Castiel was like "you really shouldn't have come" and then there was a burny white light and. I mean.

:(

There hasn't been a recurring female character on this show that I've disliked, yet. STOP KILLING THEM OFF SPN GODDAMNIT

Maybe Derren-Brown-as-Ithuriel busts her out & together they snark off into the sunset.

Misha Collins made a joke about this! I know because of wank. He is extremely well-aware of the fandom, I think; he said they didn't intend to keep his character around, but they did, and then something like "it's because I'm not a woman." No comments on the shows whitewashing though.

Heh. I don't know if he thinks that the crazy lady-hating female slash fans are all the fandom, but, yeah, they're the ones he seems most aware of. I don't think he thought making slashy jokes would cause fans to tell him to simmer down, at least.
