Mission Complete: Vacation.
Axel: As long as we remember each other, we'll never be apart. Got it memorised?
Roxas: Ha ha, wow, Axel. That sounded ridiculous.
Axel: What? I thought it was pretty deep.
Roxas: (reading) 'You can't train if you don't chain! Wanna rack up points? Then chain, chain, chain! No chain, no gain!' Okay... I think they want me to chain.
Roxas: I've never had a vacation before.
Axel: Is that right?
Roxas: What's my job during vacation?
Axel: What's your - Roxas, you're really missing the point.
Roxas: Let's see what's behind door number two...
Xaldin: Roxas! We have to keep a low profile, you fool! No more throwing doors open. I won't have it.
Roxas: Nice sofa.
Xaldin: No breaks, Roxas.
Roxas: No, I wasn't - I didn't mean - I was just saying...
Who translated this game? I am really enjoying all the dialogue.
On a less approving note: I have now gone on at least one mission with every regular Organization member (not counting Saïx and Xemnas, who I assume are too busy respectively being leaderish and shouting 'BLARGH HEARTS' at the sky to sneak past animated clocks with me) save Luxord. THIS ISN'T OKAY, DAYS. I DEMAND MORE LUXORD INTERACTION. At the moment he's just sitting in the Grey Area and describing everything in poker metaphors, which is hilarious but not enough.
(OH MY GOODNESS I ONLY JUST REALISED THE SIGNIFICANCE OF CALLING THE ROOM IN WHICH THE ORGANIZATION MEMBERS HANG OUT THE 'GREY AREA'
SHUT UP I'M SLOW.)
At the moment, I am reading The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. It's all very suspenseful and intriguing, but my mind is somewhat ruining the effect by picturing (spoiler, highlight to read) the girl as Xion (so far her primary characteristics are being silent, LIKE XION IN HER FIRST DAYS IN THE ORGANIZATION, and seeming emotionless, ALMOST AS IF SHE IS MISSING HER HEART) and Manchee as the dog from Up. And then there's the cassor, which is clearly Kevin. THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO: IT'S BASICALLY UP WITH NOBODIES.

ROXAS YOU DORK, HE'S IN LOVE WITH YOU!
Ahem.
I always find Roxas's name slightly confusing, because I've been to Roxas City, and keep wanting to use the Filipino pronunciation.
(Yes, there is a Roxas City - named after a different guy named Roxas.)

Roxas: Axel, I need to ask you something.
Axel: What's up? Did something happen?
Roxas: Nah, it's just... This is gonna sound stupid. Do you know what love is?
Axel: 'Scuse me?
Roxas: I found out about love on today's mission - that it's something powerful.
Axel: That's true. It is. But I'll never get to experience it.
Roxas: Nobodies can't love?
Axel: You need a heart, man.
Roxas: Right...
Axel: Love is what happens if there's something really special between two people.
Roxas: You mean, like, if they're best friends?
Axel: Well, you can care about your friends, I guess, but that's not what I'm talking about.
Roxas: So then... love is like a step above friends?
Axel: Yes... Well, no. There aren't 'steps'.
Roxas: I don't get it.
Axel: What does it matter? We'll never know the difference.
For beings without hearts, guys, you certainly are good at breaking mine.
(And Roxas's diary for that day:
On my mission at Beast's Castle, Xaldin told me about 'love' and the special power it has over people. I tried to ask Axel about it, but his explanation didn't make any sense to me. Every time I ask him about this kind of thing, he tells me I need a heart to understand. It's like he's dodging the questions.)

And Axel seems to get love remarkably well for someone who thinks he's incapable of it.

This game is so delightful, but I have a feeling of dread that increases with every mission I complete, because I know it's not going to end well. Obviously I know about the events of Kingdom Hearts II, but I don't know about Xion's fate at all; she hasn't even been mentioned in the other games. So much lovely friendship! I don't want to have my heart stomped on!

Axel could run the shop during the day, and Roxas and Xion could chip in after school, and Demyx could sit in the corner playing his sitar and claim that he's drawing in the customers. Axel strongly suspects Demyx is driving away the customers, but every time he tries to raise the point, Demyx is all "Luxord said my presence was like the nine of clubs!" and insist that's good because they're a nine in there, which is his lucky number, obviously, and Axel has no idea what Luxord is saying on a good day, so he lets it slide.
And Axel's going to be all convinced that he's in love with Roxas but not capable of love, and Roxas is going to continue to be the WORST PERSON EVER to be in unrequited love with for several years, but one day, when he's older, something's just going to click and he'll be all, "Oh!"no subject

What are you stuck on? Maybe I can give you some advice.

Is there like, a general level you should be for each area? I wonder if I just need to do some more training or something.

I don't know about level recommendations, I'm afraid.

Also, you might appreciate this more than some other people- for the past few days, I've been doing sketches and scraps of various points on the imaginary Pokemon journey I've taken with my friends. So far we've stood dramatically atop a hill with our Pokemon, I've caught an Oddish and played Rock-Paper-Scissors with my friend Brian to determine who gets to catch a Caterpie we found (he won) and soon after I leave here my friend Kirk is going to catch a Cleffa.

;A; i want this. So badly. Also, yes, the interaction between Axel and Roxas is adorable and it makes my heart squeek (I have this game also, I've just not been able to play it so much because I'm stuck on a side-mission and I cannot complete a game until I COMPLETE EVERYTHING. And I mean EVERYTHING. I am very pedantic in that sense :/)
