Truly A Singular Case.

Hello, everyone! Here is a pretty great My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic-style pony creator. I propose that we all create pony versions of our favourite fictional characters and then post them in the comments here.

(There is an option for importing a cutie mark image on the creator, but it resizes images oddly, so you may find it easier to add the mark yourself in an image editing program.)

To kick things off:

Now greatly alarmed, I cast about in search of Holmes, for I felt certain that my friend would be better able to explain this strange transformation than I.

I found him standing upon a precipice and looking down upon the town below, or I thought it must be him, for never had a beast been so alike in stance and mien to Sherlock Holmes. "Holmes!" I exclaimed, "what an extraordinary occurrence! what an impossibility! Have you any idea what has happened to us?"

"I have," said Holmes (for of course it was he). I was most relieved to hear it, although I had little doubted that he would know. If he knew what had brought about this change, I hoped he would also have some idea of what steps we could take to reverse it.

"Yes," said Holmes, gazing pensively upon the town. "It is highly probable, I have concluded, that we have been turned into ponies."

I liked Lightning when I first played Final Fantasy XIII, and I'm liking her more and more on this replay. Here is a brief plot summary of Final Fantasy XIII:

Anima: You get to be either a monster or a crystal! What'll it be?
Lightning: Actually, I'm just going to punch the world in the face.
Anima: That wasn't one of the options.
Lightning: I don't care.

She's pretty amazing.

I had to take this in Photoshop to put the scar on (and because it wouldn't import the cutie mark so I had to do it myself!) I feel no shame.

Ahahaha, it's perfect! That is definitely Squall's expression. I bet he never actually uses his wings. And the Griever cutie mark is really cool.

I've tinkered around with the ponymaker when it was in a less refined form, making some of my original characters in it, and when you linked to it I knew I was lost. I knew I had to make Squall with an unamused expression. It was my destiny.

But wait! He must have a companion.

There was, unfortunately, no way to get brown streaks in her hair that didn't look silly.

EDIT: She should also probably have a horn! Unfortunately I have already closed out the pony window and can't add one.

The lack of a horn struck me, but perhaps this is from before she becomes a Sorceress (when presumably she... grows a horn? I don't know how passing on Sorceress powers works for ponies). She's adorable!

I have been playing a leeeeeetle bit of Skyward Sword this week. *coughcoughsixtyhourscoughcough*

For a moment, I was surprised that the idea of Jack/the Hub had never occurred to me, and then I was surprised by my own surprise.

If it did happen, though, I'm not sure I would be surprised.

I have no idea what the Hub's deal is in DP/R, other than it's clearly not a normal building and the Fairies have messed with it. (At one point Ianto tries to do some research on it:

Systems, yes; layout, yes, though the layout was out-of-date and resisted any attempts to update it. Equipment manifests and mainframe functionality. TL;DR, I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF JACK WAS IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE HUB. Not even as a pony.

Or a psychic blue horse. Either one.

It goes without saying that Cloud's cutie mark is a fake, painted on to hide the fact that he's a blankflank. No-one knows. Not even Cloud, who has conveniently repressed the memories until they come out at the worst possible time.

I love Snake's pose, and his cutie mark. Does that mean his special talent is getting spotted? Not a great quality in someone who spends so much time sneaking around, Snake. (Snake's special talent is definitely getting spotted when I'm the one at the controller.)

The gunarm makes even less sense as a gunleg. I hope the barrels are retractable.

Is your cutie mark a bubble? I can't quite make it out. (And did you deliberately leave Wooster cutie-markless?)

His special talent is being the Stig.

It's a Bubble wearing a captain's hat. Since I'm Captain LeBubbles? It might be a little clearer in my icon. *points*

I have a Viking pony:

Awesome! I get the impression that the Viking pony's horn is more for impalement than for magic.

Well, naturally it's for impalement. It's also handy to magically set fire to monasteries.

Charles II is a winged unicorn, because he's a King. He's useless at flying and doing magic, though.

Pony Gary Barlow is terrified, because Actual Gary Barlow is scared of horses.

And now that we have established that there is no canon word for winged unicorns, I give you Dr. Ben Goldpony in the infinite whiteness of nothing, being very unimpressed in a labcoat, and Prof. Brian Coxpony staring wistfully into space.

Goldacre's hair is perfect! And I'm frankly amazed by how much that pony looks like Professor Brian Cox.

I spent SO LONG trying to find the right hair. So annoying. Fortunately, finding the right ridic curly hair for Goldacre was easier :D. I even resisted the urge to just give him Pinkie Pie's mane.

Laughed out loud for 5 minutes. Those are brilliant.

SPEAKING of Goldacre, did you see when he linked to my fanfic on Twitter a month ago? Twice? And assumed Robin Ince bummed him in it?

I did! I was equal parts horrified and amused. I'm surprised I didn't comment! Perhaps I was too busy gaping at the screen. Congratulations?

Thank you! From his reaction, I am assuming he was busy being amused. I immediately checked if other, higher rated fic was locked to AO3 members and THANK GOD IT WAS.

(Psst, winged unicorns are canonically called Alicorns. I thought this information might please you.)

(They are not canonically called alicorns! They've never been referred to as alicorns in the canon! They are fanonically called alicorns.

I spent a weird amount of time considering whether or not to use 'alicorn' in that comment, to be honest.)

(Several of the writers have used Alicorns to refer to Luna and Celestia in interviews and Q&A's, including, I think- I can't remember this one for sure- Faust herself. That makes it Word of God, ie, canon. :D)

(I'd link you if I still had it. I found someone arguing about it on the Tropes pages and that's where I got them. Alicorn is also the traditional name for them- presumably where they got it, of course- as well as being the name for the material a unicorn's horn is made of. This, of course, is referring to original legends in general, not MLP specifically. To my knowledge, no one has specified what, besides magic, makes up a unicorn's horn in MLP.)

(it's a little big :<) I should also mention that, instead of his leg, his horn is broken, so now he can't really use magic. And I was half tempted to have Watson's cutie mark be Sherlock, but I figured I'd be safe and go with a doctor symbol.

Hee! It would be very weird to meet the pony depicted in your cutie mark for the first time.

Bless him, he looks so sad! I've always thought of Watson as an earth pony, but the idea of him as a broken-horned unicorn is a really interesting one.

Thank you! I tried to make him look sad mostly because of the loss of his magic and, in a way, a sense of purpose. And I would have made him an earth pony, but, as he was a doctor AND in the army, I'd find it hard to imagine him wielding a weapon WITHOUT the aid of magic. But that's just me.

Cutie marks are the most difficult things in the world to come up with, oh my gosh.
