rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (and many miles to go before i sleep)
While browsing YouTube, I stumbled across this. It is a short collection of outtakes involving Jeremy being the least professional presenter in the world, and it is marvellous.

I love the Top Gear team so much. I love that they go to Iceland with the intention of deciding what the best convertible is and eventually, instead of actually reaching a verdict on the cars, reach the verdict that they are useless presenters. I love that, when they're acting as roadies for The Who, Jeremy can't lift the amps and the cameramen laugh at him, and they barely talk about the vans they're supposed to be reviewing at all, and eventually they stutter out the most useless verdict in the world (which is basically 'er, if you want a van, buy the sort of van you want') and stare at their feet in shame. I love that everything they attempt ends up on fire. The three of them are so incompetent and it is wonderful.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] gayjunglefever has come up with a rather ingenious meme in which people write a one-sentence fic based on the icon of the person they're replying to. It's only just started, but I think it could be a lot of fun. You can find it over here.

More watching of Prison Break, and I have become much too fond of Prison Doctor, which is very silly indeed when you consider that this fondness appears to be based almost entirely on the fact that she reminds me very strongly of Cameron. Yes, I adore Cameron, but 'she's like a character from a completely different TV series' seems a rather flimsy basis to build the love of a character on.

But seriously! When I first saw her, I was struck by how much she looked like Cameron, and, um - um - I was going to defend myself by explaining how she resembles Cameron in personality, but, um, I can't think of any good examples.

I am useless. (But she is like Cameron! She is! Really! Why won't you believe me?)

Spoiler blackout for 'Riots, Drills and the Devil' (yes, I realise I'm inconsistent in the way I write episode titles, I felt like using inverted commas today, shut up):
I was incredibly distressed when Man With Cat's Cat ran off into the chaos, and even more distressed by the fact that we still didn't know its fate (although I can't imagine it can have been good) by the end of the two-parter. It's ridiculous, really: there are so many disasters, so many people dying and almost dying and things almost ruining the whole plan and there I am, constantly concerned about Man With Cat's Cat. I have the weirdest priorities ever.

Prison Break doesn't seem to like redeeming features, does it? The cast are very clearly divided into 'good characters, hurrah!' and 'baaaaad characters, boo and hiss'. I'll admit that it is very, very good at making you hate the characters you are supposed to hate, but the lack of ambiguity still bothers me a bit.

Still, it's excellent at creating tension. It's a little too violent for my tastes, and my favourite character is an almost-certainly doomed cat (seriously, I've been absolutely convinced that the cat was going to die since the moment I saw it, and I've spent all the time since then worrying about the cat's welfare and what will happen to poor Man With Cat if it does die), but it's definitely managed to hook me.

On a completely unrelated note, I feel that I may have to write Jeremy Clarkson/Ford GT, simply because their relationship is so interesting and would lend itself so well to sort of mock-angst fanfiction. The car abuses him constantly, but he can't let go of it because he loves it so much. It is extremely tragic. My only concern is that I may end up writing it as real angst, because I am not supposed to write angst for Top Gear. (But it would work so well! No, Riona.)
