What Have I Totally Done?
I don't often post audience participation entries these days, simply because there's not much of an audience left to participate; Livejournal and Dreamwidth are very quiet places! But I'm fretting about various things at the moment (nothing insurmountable, things are probably going to be fine), and I could do with a distraction, so it's worth a try:
Ask any fictional character you think I might be able to manage a question, and I'll reply in-character as them with an answer (or possibly reply as myself going 'WHAT THE HELL, I CAN'T DO THIS'). Feel free to ask either as yourself or as another character.
You may, if you wish, ask multiple questions (perhaps of multiple characters) or attempt to engage the characters in extended conversation. I've attempted to answer as real people in the past, but I'm specifying fictional characters this time, I'm afraid!
(Alternatively, or in addition: name a canon you know I have at some point enjoyed, and I'll dig up and post an extract from the unfinished fanfiction I've almost certainly got lying around.)
Feel free to comment even if we haven't talked in six years! If you're not sure of my fandoms (I have approximately a billion fandoms), my tag list should give you an idea. Although for some reason I have a 'buffy' tag? Don't ask for Buffy; I've seen about four episodes and you'll be disappointed.
To avoid duplicates on the 'unfinished fanfiction' question, below are links to the different versions of this entry (and the list of fandoms I've thus far posted snippets for in each one):
Livejournal: The Mentalist, My Little Pony, Harry Potter
Dreamwidth: The Last of Us, Uncharted, Top Gear, Assassin's Creed, The World Ends With You, Dangan Ronpa, Ghost Trick, Supernatural, Doctor Who, Prison Break

(Anonymous) 2015-06-09 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)Don't name twenty fandoms, don't name twenty fandoms... oh damnit I'm naming multiple fandoms. (Not twenty, though!) You can just pick one if you want :P But I'm not sure you'll have fic for some of these hence the multiple...
World Ends With You
Ghost Trick
Silent Hill 2 (always a safe fallback option)
Dangan Ronpa
Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed
“The passage of time is cruel,” Ezio remarks. He turns from the rubble to examine the setup around the Animus. “And strange. What are these objects?”
“Those? They’re computers,” Desmond says. “They’re...” God, he wouldn’t even know how to explain them to someone from his own time. “They’re kind of like libraries, I guess.”
Ezio looks hard at Shaun’s monitor, and then looks harder at Desmond.
“The stuff on here can change,” Desmond says, waving at the screen. “Uh, you remember when you saw Minerva?”
Ezio’s expression clears at once. “Of course. She mentioned you. So you can create the same effects?”
“Not exactly,” Desmond says. “I don’t think our technology’s there yet. But something like that.”
He leads their conversation a few steps sideways, trying to make it look casual, so they’re closer to the statue of Altaïr. Somehow, he feels like Altaïr has a right to be here for this.
“How long did you say it’s been? Five hundred years?” Ezio folds his arms, and when he speaks again it’s almost to himself. “What did history make of Cesare, I wonder.”
“Well, Shaun’d know better than me, but I’m pretty sure we don’t think he was a nice guy,” Desmond says. “You don’t want to know what history made of you?”
Ezio smiles. “If history made anything at all of me, I must have been a poor assassin. And that, I think, is knowledge I could do without.”
“So what if I’d said Cesare was a hero?” Desmond asks, hands in his pockets. “You wouldn’t go after him?”
He already knows the answer, of course. He’s been in Ezio’s head.
Ezio is silent for a moment.
“Cesare murdered my uncle,” he says. “But I feel it is right for me to understand the weight of the lives I take.”
“Desmond?”
Desmond looks over at the entrance. It’s Rebecca.
“Thought I heard talking,” she says, looking around with a slight frown. “You okay?”
He expects Ezio to be gone when he looks back. Ezio is still there, brushing his fingers over the worn feather chest.
“I’m fine,” Desmond says.
Silent Hill 2?
James can't do this alone.
Thanks, past self.
There are a couple of other snippets, but they're both very, very short. I've probably got more in a notebook at my parents' house somewhere. I'll try to remember to check next time I'm there.
The pocket flashlight flickers and dies. The static from the radio fades slowly into nothing, and somehow the silence is worse.
It is too dark to see.
James brings his hands up to cover his ears and sways a little, back and forth, and wonders if he is going insane.
And also (and I'm very curious about this one):
Up on the observation deck and hand-in-hand with Mary, he pauses, turns back to look towards the town.
I’ve beaten you, he whispers. I win.
Re: Silent Hill 2?
(Anonymous) 2015-06-10 07:28 am (UTC)(link)I think the only fanfics I left lying around where ones where I might decide to ever do something with them other than that, so all I've got left a few for Heavy Rain, one Death Note, and one Kingdom Hearts AU (not high school AU :P this fic will never be finished but I wrote 2000+ words so I'm not deleting it yet!).
Will read the other fic segments and comment later, got to go to work now! :)
Re: Silent Hill 2?
What's the Kingdom Hearts AU, if you don't mind saying?
The World Ends With You
“It’s definitely easy to get angry with you, if that’s what you mean.”
“That separate entity really should represent your worst qualities for the full cathartic experience, so you rather tripped up by making me so intelligent and charming. Of course, that anger’s actually masking your deep-seated attraction to me, and goodness knows what that symbolises.”
“I seriously have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Joshua smirks. “Really, what’s stopping you?” He reaches up and undoes the top button of his shirt. For a second Neku just stares, frozen – where the hell is this going? – before Joshua winks at him and rebuttons it. “Nobody can see me; nobody will know what you’re really up to. Touch me, Neku.”
It’s hard to think of something in response to that, somehow; it’s hard to focus. Neku has to look away. “I’m pretty sure people seeing me making out with – with you would be less humiliating than people seeing me making out with the air,” he mutters. He really hopes he’s not blushing. “Not that any of that is happening, ever.”
“You’re telling me I can’t tempt you even if I make myself visible? What a shame.”
“Of course you—” Neku begins, and then he cuts himself off. Maybe this is his chance to prove he’s not crazy. “Okay,” he says. “If you make yourself visible. Maybe.”
Joshua laughs. “I’d love to,” he says, “but, if I don’t really exist, that’s no small challenge. I suppose you’ll have to carry on repressing your desire. It’s a good thing you’re so practised at it.”
“I know you exist,” Neku snaps, trying to stamp out the sudden flicker of doubt in his chest. Joshua has to exist. There’s no way he just imagined those three weeks, and he’s pretty sure he’s not screwed up enough to create this kid who just hangs around and torments him.
But wouldn’t Joshua have called Neku’s bluff if he could?

Dangan Ronpa (contains first-game spoilers)
It occurs to Naegi, after several more seconds of silently wrestling with Fukawa’s body, that perhaps Togami has stopped talking for a reason.
He looks up.
Togami is looking straight at him.
“Well,” Togami says, “I suppose this particular petty affair might catch my interest.”
Naegi starts to shake so badly that he loses his grip and Fukawa slips to the floor. “Sh-she’s not – she fainted,” he says, because it’s the only thing that comes into his head. “She saw some blood and she fainted.”
“Is that so?” Togami asks, his eyes on Fukawa. “I suppose that makes sense, given how profusely she’s evidently been bleeding.”
This is very, very bad. “You – no, you don’t understand—”
“I understand perfectly,” Togami says, shooting Naegi a glare that shuts him up very effectively. “One of you is the murderer, I take it. There are three of us here, after all, and there’s been no announcement.” He looks at Kirigiri. “You, of course. He wouldn’t have the fortitude.”
There’s been no announcement, Naegi thinks. Maybe... maybe there’s still hope.
“This will be a very dull trial,” Togami says. “Two correct votes of five secured before it can even begin. Or should I understand, Naegi, that you will be assisting the murderer this time around? You do appear to be hiding the body on her behalf, after all. Although I can’t fathom...”
He pauses.
“Ah,” he says. “So that’s your plan.”
“C-can you help us?” Naegi asks.
“Hmm,” Togami says. “But a dull trial is still more interesting than no trial at all, wouldn’t you say? And Kirigiri’s execution would certainly be convenient.”
“Convenient?” Naegi echoes.
“Well, consider the opportunity this presents. I only need to target you in the next round, Naegi, and all our little detectives will be cleared out of the courtroom. I’ll be facing a jury of Asahina and Hagakure. Do you imagine they will be difficult to deceive?”
Naegi swallows. He can’t mean it, right? Talking so easily about killing... it’s all been a bluff from the beginning, right?
But he didn’t think Kirigiri was capable of murder, either.
“So we can’t rely on your help,” Kirigiri says.
“You should be flattered that I consider you a threat,” Togami says.
“Do you intend to tell the others?” Kirigiri asks.
Togami smiles. “I intend to stand back and see whether you succeed.”
Ghost Trick (post-game, contains spoilers)
It seems wrong to say I miss the night when I could talk to everyone, considering the reason I could talk to them was that they kept dying all the time, but... I do miss it. A little. Sometimes.
I reach out to her soul, and...
...she's unconscious.
I guess that makes sense; this is only the first time she's died. Sort of.
It's also, sadly, going to have to be the last. I want to bring her back, but what can I do? My powers are different now. I took on Yomiel's fate, and I got Yomiel's power to manipulate living things; that's how I can stay in this body. And Yomiel couldn't rewind time. There's nothing I can do for her now.
Missile could rewind time, of course, when he was a ghost. I probably shouldn't kill him so he can bring Lynne back. He'd insist on it if I gave him the idea, but I still shouldn't.
