To Catch Them Is My Real Test; To Rule Them Is My Cause.
Regarding the seventh volume of Fullmetal Alchemist: was Greed this amazing in the anime? Surely I would have remembered had he been this amazing. DON'T FIGHT HIM, GUYS; JUST, I DON'T KNOW, HANG OUT AND FIGHT CRIME TOGETHER. (There were points at which Greed and the Devil's Nest crew reminded me of Mello and his gang, actually. But Greed and company are a bit more awesome.
I really wanted to use 'remound' as the past tense of 'remind' there.)
It looks as if the end of the seventh volume may be where the anime and manga begin to diverge, which means that this is where things get really interesting. For the past few volumes, I've been able to vaguely recall the corresponding anime episodes, and so I've had some idea of what to expect; from here on, I do not know what's going to happen at all. How exciting!
HERE IS THE PROBLEM WITH MY HANGING AROUND IN BRIGHTON TO LOOK FOR A HOUSEMATE POST-ACADEMIC YEAR: much of the time, I have nothing better to do than come up with the most appalling crossover ideas possible and then illustrate them.

SHARE YOUR BAD CROSSOVER IDEAS WITH ME IN THE COMMENTS. They do not have to be in manip form, although that would be rather fun.

And for what it's worth, I'm not on vacation. I'm working, and dealing with a considerable amount of paperwork. As a prelude toward my job moving me to Fiji in July.

YES! I FELT EXACTLY THE SAME WAAAY Also, where did this female-Zell-with-snake-DNA come from, and why is there not an equivalent female Seifer (with OCELOT DNA PERHAPS? lolol) for me to ship her with.
I just want Greed and his crew to like, be the kinda-friendly antagonists who show up every once in a while, commit crimes, get chased by Our Heroes, screw them over somehow, have a badass fight scene with them, and then run away cackling and/or nursing their wounds. I guess what I am saying is that I want them to be the Team Rocket of Fullmetal Alchemist. IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK.
I would also like to point out here that Mrs. Curtis is THE AWESOMEST AWESOME THAT HAS EVER AWESOMED.

But, y'know, Nintendo already crossed over MGS and Pokemon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JePPps4D8aM).

Oh, Greed and his crew would make such a glorious Team Rocket.

Pretty much my every other thought whilst reading this volume was 'my goodness, this woman is terrifyingly awesome'. (Most of the remaining thoughts were just 'my goodness, this woman is terrifying'.)

The whole Doctor Who/Dark Knight "The Joker is a Time Lord who had an accident in the Time War, although he remembers it several different ways so he doesn't know what kind of accident, and if anyone bothered to check out his random stories about the scar, they'd find out they were all true, but they wouldn't know that they were true after the fact for just long enough to be contradicted by the other stories he makes up at random, and he doesn't actually know how he got his scar" idea, but that's fairly straightforward and sensible.
Also, the one where Top Gear go to the world of Portal, and meet Chell, the Stig's niece, but only after nearly getting killed several dozen times, pissing off Glados with Richard's unwillingness to kill his companion cube, inspiring several lectures on physics from James, demonstrating why it's a bad idea to give Jeremy a gun that can put a hole in anything, and completely and totally failing to get any cake.
And the one where Dexter Morgan's a Nobody, and someone offers to put Deter, the original back together, and Deb (Dexter's adoptive sister) is all "You want to take my brother away? Fuck off and die. Actually, if you don't back the fuck off, right now, I'll make you sorry you were ever born." Because Deb's awesome, and also profane like that.
And also, see my icon.

I also love the sheer amount of insanity you've managed to fit into a single sentence with 'The one where Derren Brown falls in love with the dragon from Merlin, and gives birth to a Charmander!'

You want to know my worst crossover ideas? ASK
It involves Misha Collins, Jonathan Ross and Jeffrey Donovan (an actor on an AWESOME show who communicates on Twitter using multiple exclamation marks) getting into a shipwar on Top Gear, as Jonathan ships Jeremy/Richard, Jeffrey ships James/Richard, and Misha'll ship anything that pissed the other two off and just wants to write crackfic.
It MIGHT get written for the

Also I completely agree with your sentiments re: FMA. I've only ever read the manga, though; is the anime different enough that I should see it?

Well, I've heard that more or less the entire second half of the anime has nothing to do with the manga, and even at the point up to which I've read, although the storyline is more or less the same, the manga and anime feel quite different (unlike Death Note, where the manga and anime appear to be more or less identical so far). So, yes, you could give the anime a try.

Also, I have to go read it all again just so I know what you're talking about.
I'd been trying to stay away from the anime, at least until the manga finishes, because I had assumed they would have the same ending and I didn't want to be spoiled, but I'm conflicted now.

The ending of Fullmetal Alchemist is completely different from the manga, which as of 2008 is still ongoing ... Hiromu Arakawa revealed the whole of her story to Bones, but urged them to change events so that the manga could deliver the rest of its plot without the audience knowing the spoilers.
So, if you do decide to watch it, you need not fear being spoiled!
