rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (never leave us again)
Someone has given me an anonymous virtual rose! Thank you so much! I <3 you too, whoever you are.

No cards (not that I was expecting any; I've never received a Valentine's card from anyone other than my mother), but I did get a letter from [livejournal.com profile] newbie1990, which is so much better because Valentine's cards do not contain lines like 'Wilson sighed. "When I said 'try to be nice', you took that as 'be insulting at every possible opportunity', didn't you?' ALTHOUGH THEY ALSO DO NOT GENERALLY CONTAIN DRAWINGS OF PYRAMID HEAD. I WISH PEOPLE WOULD STOP SENDING ME DRAWINGS OF PYRAMID HEAD. Still, it is a lovely letter, and one of the paragraphs starts with 'Jsdfkl!!', which made me smile rather a lot. Handwritten keyboardmashes are bizarre. (Is there really a character in Heroes called 'HRG'? What sort of name is HRG?)

Also, I have watched 'Skin', the sixth episode of Supernatural. Spoilers for 'Skin'. )

Is this a terrible thing to think about on Valentine's Day? It probably is, isn't it?

Anyway! Happy Valentine's Day, beloved flist! Due to my perpetually single state, this day is always a celebration of platonic love for me, so I want you to know that I adore you all. If you are on my friendslist, know that you have in some way brightened my life.
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (I APPROVE)
My lack of posting for the past few days can be blamed on panic over an essay and a test, both for today and both now finished. GLORIOUS FREEDOM. I'm not terribly happy with the essay, but the test (although I did run out of time on the last question) went better than I was expecting, and I genuinely believe that this can be attributed entirely to my receiving the following e-mail from [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus this morning:

I love my friends so much.

You know 'Talk Like a Pirate Day' and 'Talk Like a Hypello Day' and 'Talk in Al Bhed Day', which I've never heard of but which probably exists? Why isn't there a 'Talk in Rhyming Couplets' day? Actually, scratch that: why don't we just talk in rhyming couplets all the time?

(For those curious, the title of this entry is an anagram of 'Because Talking In Anagrams Would Just Be Frustrating'. SEE HOW PRODUCTIVELY I SPEND MY TIME WHEN I HAVE FINISHED MY WORK.)
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (oh god (quarkz))
ASKJHFSDKJGDSHGDGH WHO SENT ME A BOOK OF SIXTIES SONGS FOR THE UKULELE? Oh, wait, I've just found the cunningly-hidden order info. THANK YOU SO MUCH, [livejournal.com profile] livii; YOU ARE AMAZING.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] draegonhawke has sent another letter, about interesting potential moral dilemmas for the Stargate team and SOMETHING I CANNOT UNDERSTAND BECAUSE IT IS INEXPLICABLY WRITTEN IN RUSSIAN, and an incredibly awesome flat plastic magnifying-glass thing! I am genuinely ridiculously fascinated by it and have been using it to examine everything within reach for the past five minutes. HOW DOES IT MAGNIFY THINGS WITHOUT BEING NOTICEABLY CURVED? IT IS LIKE MAGIC. And it comes with its own little case! Although the case does not appear to have incredibly tiny secret messages anywhere on it, which would be the logical thing to include on a magnifying glass case, surely.

I also have a letter from [livejournal.com profile] _princess_han_ (I AM SO GLAD THAT THE POSTAL STRIKES ARE OVER), in which she talks about Richard/Richard (WHICH PEOPLE NEED TO WRITE. People have written Jeremy/Jeremy and James/James; why not Richard/Richard? Richard is the only one of the Top Gear presenters, to my knowledge, who has looked at a photograph of his younger self and said 'I quite fancy me... which is wrong') and the Top Gear boys writing fanfiction about each other (WHICH PEOPLE ALSO NEED TO WRITE. I do not care that 'the characters find out what people write about them!' is an age-old fanfiction cliché; I want there to be more Top Gear fic about the trio discovering [livejournal.com profile] topgearslash. And getting involved. And competing for reviews. And mocking/stealing ideas from/becoming slightly unnerved by each other's fiction. Or possibly Jeremy and Richard stumbling across the community, clicking randomly through a few fics and suddenly recognising James' writing style. Oh, go on), and, er, as you may be able to tell, it has given me some fairly powerful fic cravings. When was the last time someone posted a fic challenge to [livejournal.com profile] topgearslash?

I love you all so much!
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (you are all useless and i am so hot)
There was a guy with a Griever necklace in my Approaches to Meaning in English lecture. I stopped him on his way out and told him how awesome he was and asked him where he'd got it from and generally made a complete prat of myself, but I have an excuse, and that excuse is Griever necklace.

Also, I have got more post, because you are all ridiculously lovely. I will talk about it under the cut, because I imagine most of you are fed up with my 'eeeeee, post!' entries by now.

Squeeing about post from draegonhawke, reipan and twilit_wanderer. )

I have realised, rather to my alarm, that the way in which I write Balthier can sometimes make him sound very similar to the Master. I'll have to make them meet at some point and see what happens. (If Balthier hadn't been a hero, he could have made such a good villain.)
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (don't cross me)
ASASFKFSDGLKKGDSK THINGS! THINGS IN THE POST! Seriously, you guys, you have no idea how much it makes my day when I open the postbox to find something handwritten with my name on it. No idea.

[livejournal.com profile] draegonhawke has sent me a frankly amazing postcard with a drawing of Fran (FFXII, not Black Books) totally pwning Pyramid Head. NO, SERIOUSLY. THAT IS HOW AWESOME SHE IS. ('She' was written with [livejournal.com profile] draegonhawke in mind but could, of course, be applied with equal relevance to Fran.) The text is equally brilliant and opens with the wonderful (if slightly alarming) words, 'Because Pyramid Head attacks are such a concern among first-time students, modern universities employ squads of trained Viera to hunt them down'. I really hope that the postman read it and was horribly confused.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] cane_tie has sent me a letter! It is on BRIGHT YELLOW PAPER and hilariously disjointed and has a random doodle of a ukulele and 'VOTE SAXON' and hand-written emoticons and panics about awkward silences on paper and generally made me grin a ridiculous amount. Also, handwritten fanfic! About Jack and the Doctor and the Master! And it references Jack's travels with Balthier and Fran! (Their trio has become so very ingrained in my mind that I'm always a little surprised when I watch Doctor Who and Balthier and Fran aren't there.)

ALSO, IT ENDS WITH A STICK-FIGURE PYRAMID HEAD.

WHY HAVE I GOT MULTIPLE PYRAMID HEADS THROUGH THE POST TODAY? DO YOU HATE ME? IS THAT IT?

(I suppose it is slightly less horrifying if one is a stick-figure and the other has been soundly defeated by an awesome Viera. BUT STILL.)

(EDIT: ALSO ALSO ALSO [livejournal.com profile] wanttobeatree HAS A FIC-IN-PROGRESS ABOUT SAM TYLER AND SHERLOCK HOLMES WRITING ZOMBIES AND IT IS AMAZING.)

(EDIT II: ...AND BY 'WRITING' I MEAN 'FIGHTING'.

ERM.)

There's a Love Meme going on at the moment. Now, while I really like the concept of love memes, I always sort of resent them in practice, because the people who I know really should be up there and getting huge amounts of love never are.

It occurred to me today that, hey, maybe the people I know and love aren't up there because I haven't been putting them up there and linking the other people who know them to the meme.

So that's exactly what I'm doing now.

Part of the reason I don't usually link to love memes is, I have to admit, the worry that people will see it as an underhanded way of trying to get lots of people to post about me. Don't comment about me just because I linked to it. Comment about the people you've always wanted to see up on these memes. (Of course, if you genuinely want to mention me, I'm certainly not going to stop you.)

Also, of course, there's the worry that some people will feel left out. You know I love all of you, right? If I haven't mentioned you directly on the meme, comment here and I'll tell you something I love about you. Even if you're a complete stranger, I'll compliment one of your icons or something. This entry is all about the love.
rionaleonhart: kingdom hearts: riku, blindfolded and smiling slightly. (we'll be the darkness)
Getting actual things through the post really is the best thing ever. I don't know why I haven't given out my address before! Well, actually, I know perfectly well why I haven't given it out before; it's because I'm horribly paranoid and it's clearly only a matter of time before [livejournal.com profile] darthfi or [livejournal.com profile] jantalaimon sends me a severed leg. But still, [livejournal.com profile] dracothelizard sent me a card! With a dog on it! I AM NOT REMOTELY SURPRISED BY THIS. It's not a Labradoodle, though. Also, she orders me to corrupt the people of this noble institution into writing crackfic. I shall try.

I'm still working on my gigantic crossover project, albeit slowly. Part of my problem is that I keep thinking of ideas that I would love to include and then can't work out how I could possibly link them into the main plot. Awesome as it would be to have the Master, Professor Moriarty, Team Rocket, Zombie Piers Morgan, Kefka, Dr. Cid from Final Fantasy XII and quite possibly Iago from Othello all team up in the Pokémon world, I can't really include it, because a) quite a number of them are probably too proud to work with others, and b) what on Earth would I do with them? Alas.

I would like to get Zombie Piers Morgan into the fic somewhere, though. I don't know why he didn't occur to me before.

(P.S. [livejournal.com profile] kadrin HAS WRITTEN POKÉMON/SILENT HILL AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. READ IT.)
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (never leave us again)
Today has not been fantastic; I went down to Brighton, became horribly lost, wandered around for an hour with heavy bags of shopping and eventually found my way back, only to discover that I had bought the wrong thing.

However, none of that matters, because [livejournal.com profile] sacred_sarcasm sent me a letter. An actual letter! I haven't had one of these since I was twelve! Her handwriting is incredibly beautiful and it is written on actual letter-writing paper and it made my day before I had even opened it just by having 'LJ-POST. AHAHAHA - YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE?' written on the envelope flap and oh, I wish you could have seen the joy it brought me. I was grinning so much that I was probably scaring the other passengers on the bus. And it had a Jeremy Clarkson fridge-magnet packed in with it! And the actual letter was absolutely hilarious and rambled about Jeremy/Ford GT versus Jeremy/Lamborghini Gallardo and offhandedly mentioned the angsty love triangle of Cessna/James/Luscombe and suggested the idea of Hammond/jetcar and then berated itself for doing so. It also says 'Perhaps I could take up the ukulele', which is an idea I very much approve of. I am probably going to pin it up on my wall, if I can bring myself to actually poke a pin through the beautiful, beautiful paper.

P.S. DEAR [livejournal.com profile] sacred_sarcasm:

I was writing almost sort-of Jeremy/James mpreg last night.

I WOULD LIKE SOME SORT OF EXPANSION ON THIS.

(Er. For anyone who wants to send me things through the post (and please do, because it makes me so happy!): if you'd rather I didn't mention details of what you wrote/sent on my LJ, let me know.

I may not honour your request to stay quiet if you do not honour my request not to send anthrax.)
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (never leave us again)
You people are amazing. Absolutely amazing. I love you and your hilarity and the way you are always so wonderfully reassuring when I need it. But most of all, I love the fact that, when I jokingly ask for fanfiction about Jeremy Clarkson failing at university, people will actually write it.

I have such insane good Internet friends.

I've decided not to bring a TV; whether my resolve will waver as the new Top Gear series approaches remains to be seen. I've also decided to leave behind the PS2, as it would be rather selfish of me to deprive my brothers of it (and also probably rather difficult to play it without a television). I am a little sad about this, especially as I was really getting into Final Fantasy VI (which I've played before but didn't manage to finish before the memory card with all my Final Fantasy saves on broke, alas), but I imagine I'll probably find other ways to fill up my time. Such as PANICKING.

Final Fantasy VI really is a brilliant game (with the awesomest overworld map and boss themes ever!), and I don't know why I haven't played it more before. Also, it is one of the few Final Fantasies in which I can name the characters whatever silly thing I feel like, as I haven't read enough fanfiction to have them permanently linked with their official names. SABIN WILL ALWAYS BE ZEKE IN MY MIND AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.

TELL ME WHAT YOU RENAME THE CHARACTERS, PLAYERS OF GAMES IN WHICH YOU CAN RENAME CHARACTERS. I DO NOT CARE THAT I AM OFF TO UNIVERSITY TOMORROW; IT IS ALWAYS THE RIGHT TIME FOR SILLY VIDEOGAME-RELATED QUESTIONS.
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (waiting for you (anniesj))
I don't have people over to stay very often - I think that a grand total of two people have stayed the night this year - and so I tend to act a bit forlorn and quite possibly lovesick when they've gone. [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus is off having an awesome time with [livejournal.com profile] tick_ now, and I'm moping around the house and smiling fondly at the unmade bottom bunk (IT IS ONLY MILDLY CREEPY) and looking at the pictures she drew for me.

One of these pictures is of Joseph (from the musical, not my brother) looking adorably embarrassed in his wonderfully ridiculous Egyptian slave skirt-thing and knee-length socks, and it gives me endless joy. It's a bit grey, which I am sure is because the scanner is crap and not because I am woefully incompetent when it comes to adjusting brightness/contrast levels at all, but that does not stop it from being glorious.

I fully intend to kidnap [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus and keep her locked up in my house and force her to draw things for me all day. Maybe not today, because that wouldn't be fair to [livejournal.com profile] tick_. But soon.

(I love spending time with people from Livejournal in real life. If I meet a new person out in the Real World, I'm always terribly uneasy and awkward because I don't know what their interests and, crucially, their weirdness threshold are; what will they be happy to talk about? What will just scare them away? Should I try to engage them in conversation about politics or Top Gear or zombie biology or, indeed, how the political views of the Top Gear team might be influenced by a zombie attack? It's so much easier when I already know a bit about how they think and they already know that I'm mildly insane.)
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (I APPROVE)
GUYS GUYS GUYS WEDNESDAY WAS SO AWESOME THAT YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE IT.

Well, actually, it's a completely believeable sort of awesome. BUT IT WAS STILL SO SO AWESOME AND I AM SO HAPPY.

Basically, what happened was this: I went to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus (ah, suddenly the Piers Morgan picture makes complete sense! except, y'know, not), and it was absolutely bloody brilliant. It was fun and ridiculous and gloriously, gloriously mad, and Lee Mead (who was definitely the right person to win Any Dream Will Do) ran around with a manic (and adorable) grin that reminded me quite severely of the Doctor. Lee Mead as the eleventh incarnation of the Doctor, with the technicolor coat as his outfit and a slightly worrying tendency to burst into song: awesome?

(But the coat was not red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ochre and peach and ruby and olive and violet and fawn and lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve and cream and crimson and silver and rose and azure and lemon and russet and grey and purple and white and pink and orange and red and yellow and green and brown and blue! WHAT SORT OF TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT IS THAT? The song lied to me! I disapprove!)

In the interval, we discussed such marvellous topics as 'James May' as rhyming slang, the Master running around in the technicolor dreamcoat (yes, my mind really is in crossover mode all the time; I cannot quite remember how this came about - I think it was because [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus started singing 'I Can't Decide' - but I was quite insistent about it), Joseph's alarming slave outfit (complete with what was, essentially, a skirt) and the fact that the musical was so utterly, wonderfully insane that it felt like watching a joint project by the members of [livejournal.com profile] topgearslash (they are all lunatics. All of them).

Also, I got to introduce [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus to my mother, who is wonderful and one of the few people from my Real Life in front of whom I can discuss Holmes/Watson mpreg and a Voldemort/Dobby fic (someone else's, I hasten to add) containing the line 'Dobby has been a naughty house-elf and needs to be punished'* completely unselfconsciously.

[livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus has basically promised (no matter what she may say) to write and direct the minimalist musical, 'Joseph and the Amazing Monochrome Dreamcoat'. Piers Morgan will play the role of Joseph. The ending will be the stage going dark and a large sign proclaiming 'ROCK FALLS, EVERYONE DIES'. It will be amazing. So there is something for you to look forward to! In the meantime, go and watch Joseph, because it is so much fun. (And watch it with [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus if you can, because she's brilliant.)

* true story
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (so happy together)
Now that two of my friends are writing (at least) six-way crossovers, I feel terribly disappointed in myself. I love and adore crossovers, but I don't think I've ever written a full-length one that incorporated more than two fandoms. That's shameful. It really is.

This insecurity about my position as That Crossover Girl means that if I ever manage to find a way of making a House/Scrubs/Harry Potter/Britain's Got Talent/Kingdom Hearts/Pokémon/Pirates of the Caribbean/Top Gear/Doctor Who/Life on Mars/Sherlock Holmes/Silent Hill/Torchwood/The Real Hustle/Final Fantasy VIII/Final Fantasy X/Final Fantasy XII crossover work, you're all going to be in trouble.

It couldn't be too difficult, could it? After all, Doctor Who has an Instant Crossover Device built in. 'The Doctor, feeling lonely, had decided to find out just how many companions the TARDIS could hold...'

All right, it's an utterly rubbish premise. I'll have to wait until a better one comes along. You're safe for now.

(The Real Hustle team are the Doctor's companions until, due to an unexpected attack by Monstro, the flying space whale, he is forced to drop them in 1973. They survive by working cons and eventually find themselves being pursued by a certain Mancunian police department...)

By the way, both [livejournal.com profile] dracothelizard and [livejournal.com profile] draegonhawke's goodness-knows-how-many-way crossovers are bloody amazing. I can't wait until they're both finished so I can point you over to them and we can all judge which is the more insane. In the meantime, why not try to think of an outline for a crossover involving every one of your fandoms? (MY METHODS FOR ENCOURAGING MORE RIDICULOUS-NUMBER-OF-FANDOMS CROSSOVERS ARE BRILLIANT AND SUBTLE.)
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (against the cortina)
Today, I met up with [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus and we had glorious rambling sense-of-directionless adventures around the Covent Garden area! She had brought her Top Gear fingerpuppets, which are the cutest things in the entire world. Seriously, I thought I'd discovered the pinnacle of cute when I saw the photographs of them on her LJ, but they are, impossibly, even more adorable in Real Life.

Because she hates me, [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus sat me down in Leicester Square and made me listen to 'Misty's Song' from the Pokémon soundtrack. It was horrific. I'm not sure that I can find the words to truly express the awfulness, although I gather from her amused reaction that my expression did so quite adequately.

Then we went to watch The Lives of Others together, which I really rather enjoyed. More on the film. )

The topic of Top Gear/Kingdom Hearts crossovers came up briefly while we were eating ice-cream afterwards (WHY, YES, MY DAY WAS AWESOME), and she suggested the idea of Sora developing a crush on Richard. Which would be adorable. Similarly adorable was her suggestion of Richard Hammond wingfic. Just imagine him flitting happily around while Jeremy sulks on the ground! (Jeremy Clarkson with wings is something I cannot imagine at all.)

It really was a wonderful day; I absolutely loved wandering around and rambling about Top Gear and Doctor Who and Fullmetal Alchemist and fanfiction and what would happen if one put the Doctor, the Master and River Tam in the TARDIS together. [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus is fantastic, you guys! Also, she has the most prettily-shaped eyes I've ever seen.

(P.S. BODYSWAP FANFICTION.)
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (beautiful day)
Today, I went to the innocent village fête in Regent's Park. It was awesome, partly because it had duck (well, goose) herding (sadly not, as I had hoped, anything like the pursuit of the swan in Hot Fuzz), morris dancing and a signpost directing people to 'weird old man', but mostly because I was with [livejournal.com profile] gayjunglefever, [livejournal.com profile] strangeumbrella, [livejournal.com profile] freakish_geek and [livejournal.com profile] immoralilly, who are wonderful people. ([livejournal.com profile] freakish_geek is one of the very few people hailing from the Internet who have actually turned out to look anything like my vaguely-formed mental preconceptions of them; my immediate thought upon seeing her was 'Well, that must be [livejournal.com profile] freakish_geek; that's exactly the hair I've always pictured her with.' And it was!)

This brings the number of people from LJland I have met in real life (with the exception of [livejournal.com profile] reipan, who I have known since well before I got a Livejournal) up to seventeen. I have absolutely loved meeting each and every one of them, and not a single one has attacked me with an axe. HOW CAN YOU ALL BE SO AWESOME? I love you all!

Anyway, we sat around and discussed slasher mentality (someone - I believe it was [livejournal.com profile] gayjunglefever - suggested the idea of T-shirts with the slogan (Hot Fuzz fans will probably remember double-taking at this) 'I'm a slasher! I must be stopped!', which is obviously genius) and made fun of Torchwood, because that was the purpose for which it was designed, and tripped over our words far too much (Reasons Riona Is An Idiot, Exhibit 41C: "When you're playing croquet, and you, um, score a goal..."). [livejournal.com profile] strangeumbrella had brought her ukulele, so we found a shady corner a little way from the insanely dense crowd and had a bit of a singing session, which was marvellous and the ukulele was so tiny and adorable and I may sort of want one now. Basically, it was an absolutely lovely day and I am extremely content.
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (never leave us again)
We fly home this evening! I have to say, I'm going to miss being in a country in which ordering lemonade means that you're going to get something with actual lemon in it. (I am not, however, going to miss the overabundance of corn syrup in everything. What on Earth, America? I didn't even know it was possible to make fudge sweeter!)

I have really enjoyed this holiday! I've developed a very good opinion of the people of California; the people we've encountered (with the exception of the angry man on the street who started yelling at me for no apparent reason) have generally seemed to be polite and intelligent (sorry, Jeremy Clarkson). I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] livii and [livejournal.com profile] deviousli, who were awesome! I am, however, missing the cats and the similarly awesome people in England, so it'll be nice to get home. General good wishes for the plane journey would be appreciated.

(We saw Jennifer Saunders and Adrian Edmondson in a bookshop. I hovered indecisively and then ran away. LOOK, I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ETIQUETTE FOR APPROACHING FAMOUS PEOPLE IS. Apart from meeting the Top Gear boys, in which case the etiquette is going to be I AM GIVING YOU A HUG WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT.)

More importantly: happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] squeemu and [livejournal.com profile] cane_tie! I am writing Jack/Fran/Balthier for the two of you; it probably won't be finished by the end of the day, but give me a kick if it's not up within the week.
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (beautiful day)
I haven't been checking my friendslist much, partially because you're not in California every day (unless, y'know, you are) and partially because I'm terrified that somebody may have splashed 'OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE DOBBY IS THE FINAL HORCRUX*' all over it, but I did see the birthday wishes and have basically been grinning solidly ever since the morning of the eighteenth. Thank you so much!

(Many thanks for the virtual gifts prettying up my profile (or disturbing it up, in the case of the ripped-out heart, which would have had you written all over it even if the message hadn't been in Russian), [livejournal.com profile] draegonhawke! Also, to the person who bought me more paid time: whoever you are, I absolutely love you.)

In gratitude for your all being ridiculously lovely and awesome, I am going to link you to [livejournal.com profile] squeemu and [livejournal.com profile] thebaconfat's Book Seven Predictions, because they are hilarious (Zombie Dumbledore!), and also post a couple of fanfiction snippets. (You see, I haven't forgotten about the prompts you've all been giving me! I'm just, er, extremely slow!)

Master/Seifer drabble, for draegonhawke. )

Balthier, Fran and Captain Jack Harkness team up, for, er, quite a few people, actually. )

* this is, as far as I know, not true.
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (beautiful day)
Dear Diary: Today, I was nervous and my LJ friends were crazy. Today, we were kidnapped by a mad Canadian, never to be seen again. It was the best day ever.

Well, it was technically yesterday, and I really shouldn't be mangling a quote when I haven't yet seen the original, but otherwise I think that sums Thursday up fairly well. [livejournal.com profile] ladybella, [livejournal.com profile] tick_, [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus, [livejournal.com profile] neobubble, [livejournal.com profile] sideshow_meg, [livejournal.com profile] hopeh, [livejournal.com profile] kharma2815, [livejournal.com profile] mad_lemming_89, [livejournal.com profile] darthfi (providing the first opportunity I've ever had to introduce myself to someone by saying 'You ruined my life!', which I enjoyed very much), [livejournal.com profile] m31andy and I all met up and inflicted ourselves upon London. They are all absolutely insane in the best possible way. (We were actually asked at one point whether it was someone's hen night, which I attribute to the fact that it was a large group, quite a few of us were wearing hats and [livejournal.com profile] tick_ was wearing (very fitting) devil horns, later appropriated by [livejournal.com profile] ladybella.)

When we first met up, everyone was very quiet and awkward, but then a sudden strong wind whipped [livejournal.com profile] ladybella's hat off her head and into the path of an approaching motorcycle, and watching both motorbike and hat roar off into the distance while we stood there in shock was a fairly effective icebreaker.

The conversations in Kensington Gardens somehow always seemed to come back to zombies. It was occasionally not my fault. Also, filthy limericks were written, and I am now the proud owner of a doodle of James-as-a-tortoise, courtesy of the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus.

You clearly have not lived until you've watched [livejournal.com profile] mad_lemming_89 (who, by the way, had drawn the most beautiful schoolboy-AU Jeremy/James picture in the world, and I hope a scan is going to show up on the Internet before too long) backing nervously away from an inquisitive squirrel. Also, we stumbled across a few Imperial Stormtroopers and Darth Vader at one point. They all attempted to chat [livejournal.com profile] darthfi up. The title of this entry comes from [livejournal.com profile] m31andy's glorious lament.

It really was a wonderfully surreal day, and I absolutely loved it. [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus has photographs over here; I am the girl in the green hat who has no fashion sense whatsoever, always looks slightly gormless and sits in ways that can't be good for her legs.

([livejournal.com profile] mad_lemming_89 has also posted about the day here. I'm going to update this entry with links if anyone else posts about it, mainly so it'll be easy to find all the accounts for nostalgia purposes.

[livejournal.com profile] kharma2815's account.
[livejournal.com profile] sideshow_meg's account (f-locked and slanderous. I AM NOT ZOMBIE-OBSESSED, I SWEAR).
[livejournal.com profile] neobubble has more photographs! (f-locked)
[livejournal.com profile] tick_ has photographs (f-locked) and a video (so you can hear [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus' glorious poem!).)

...!

IP logging is off (EDIT: it's back on again now, as it's become clear that you want to remain a mysterious silent ninja of loveliness - seriously, I am so very grateful); will my anonymous benefactor please step forward so I can SNOG YOU A LOT er, I don't know, write fic for you or something? Is there anything you'd like me to do? Is there some ridiculous crossover you've always hoped someone would write? I suppose I could offer to beta-read something for you, but you might worry about preserving your Secret Identity if I'm already familiar with your writing style. Thank you so much!

Obviously, I can't stop any of you from pretending to be my anonymous benefactor, but, er, please don't?

I hope you realise that this means I will make more polls.
rionaleonhart: final fantasy x-2: the sun is rising, yuna looks to the future. (heaven's night)
Thank you all so much for your comments regarding university! I have been utterly overwhelmed by how lovely you all are.

As further proof that I never quite stopped being a child, I've suddenly remembered a series of computer games called Freddi Fish, aimed at children between four and eight, which I became absurdly fond of at around the age of fourteen. It was about a happy yellow cartoon fish who swam around in the ocean and solved mysteries with her best friend, a happy green cartoon fish. They sang songs about the Joys of School and foiled sharks that were pretending to be ghosts. It was generally very cheerful and silly.

My first thought, when it came to mind, was a fond recollection of Freddi Fish happily saying "We found a purple sea urchin!"

My second was 'Wow, an underwater version of Silent Hill could be really interesting, couldn't it?'

THIS IS WHY I SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED NEAR CHILDREN'S THINGS. The Freddi Fish in my mind is now cowering in terror in a dimly-lit world of dead coral, desperately trying to find Luther.

Why must Silent Hill destroy everything I love?

I have a theory, and that theory is that a crossover of Top Gear and The Young Ones could, quite possibly, be the most amazing thing ever. I know that I probably call quite a few things 'the most amazing thing ever', but this time it is particularly true. They both revolve around insane, complete disaster-magnet groups of people. Vyvyan turbo-charges a vacuum cleaner, which proceeds to eat the floor. How can it never have been crossed over with Top Gear? Clarkson and Vyvyan would team up and destroy the world. Or, well, maybe not team up, because I am fairly sure that they would utterly despise each other, but there would definitely be world-destruction involved.

I've only seen about four episodes of The Young Ones, though, which means that I must desperately try to find someone else to write it, which means that [livejournal.com profile] dracothelizard must once again suffer my pestering her. She did write a couple of snippets, which were fantastic and made me die of glee and had Rick flirting with May under the impression that he was a woman ("Would you like to hear my poem? I wrote it especially for you. You'll - you'll have to come to my room, though, I left it there." The man then gave the hippie a filthy glare for no apparent reason.), but she seems reluctant to write any more, alas.
